The movements are as titled:
1. Por una Cabez (By a Head) about a bad bet on a horse
2. Sus Ojos Se Cerraron (His Eyes Closed)
3. Volver (Return)
The arrangement is appropriate for advanced performers and is about 6 minutes in length.

Fanfares, Questions and Answers for solo Bass Trombone and Wind Ensemble by William (Bill) Reichenbach is a dramatic and expressive new work.

The work is in three sections as hinted at by the title with a short, dramatic Fanfare led by the brass, followed by the lyrical and expressive Questions section. The Answers section starts hesitantly after a beautiful cadenza and slowly builds up to a massive triumphant conclusion led by the soloist.
This 10 minute work is appropriate for a very advanced soloist and advanced ensemble. 

The brilliant recording of the live performance of the world premier is with the composer as soloist joined by the U.S. Army Band.

Arioso for Trombone and Organ by Bengt Wilhelm Hallberg has been beautifully edited by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen as part of his Danish Trombone Heritage Series. 
This 4-minute work for advanced-intermediate performers is truly a gem with its expressive, Romantic feel. It includes a short cadenza and has moderate technical and range challenges....a perfect work for a less experienced performer.

The stunningly beautiful performance is by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen from his album The Danish Trombone Heritage.

Hallberg - Arioso for Trombone and Organ

Gabriel Fauré finished composing his Requiem, Op. 48 in 1890. Not a religious person himself, his music is based on "a very human feeling of faith and eternal rest". The overriding feelings when listening to this glorious work are: peace, contentment, beauty and eternity.
Ed Hayes and Frank Harmantas have beautifully arranged the Agnus Dei movement. It is about 5 minutes in length for 6-part Trombone Ensemble of advanced level performers.
Hayes and Harmantas have arranged other movements from the Fauré Requiem for the same sized ensemble.

Faure - Agnus Dei from the Requiem for 6-part Trombone Ensemble

Tres Piezas para trombón solo by Mexican composer Leonardo Velázquez is a 3-movement work for unaccompanied trombone.
Movement 1. Allegro scherando is playful with contrasting loud and soft sections that throw rhythmic curveballs to the listener with the odd 5/8 bar mixed in with 6/8 time.
Movement 2. Andantino quasi lento is a slow lyrical movement
Movement 3. Allegro moderato is sarcastic and march-like with off-balance rhythms including a 2-voice middle section that challenges the performer to convince the listener that there are two lines....a syncopated bass line and upper melody line.
This outstanding work by Velázquez is about 5 1/2 minutes in length, appropriate for advanced performers.

Velazquez - Tres Piezas para trombón solo 1995 (Three Pieces for solo Trombone)

Deep Water for 8-part Trombone Choir by David Fetter is a unique work with haunting and dramatic sounds which the composer produced by stacking moving chords in different registers and dynamics. The musical canvas is always moving or swaying like the water and creates an hypnotic effect to the listener.

This 6 1/2 minute work is appropriate for advanced performers.

"Nzuri Mwana" (“Good Son” in Swahili) is a joyful, celebratory piece that should be approached with high energy and focus. The colorful textures throughout are held together by a vibrant djembe ostinato, requiring rhythmic precision and subdividing from all ensemble members. "Nzuri Mwana" is scored for traditional percussion instruments and solo flute.

Stuart P. O’Neil has taught vocal and instrumental music for Kansas public schools since 1993. He received a bachelor of music education degree from the University of Nebraska and a master of music theory degree from the University of Kansas. His compositions for choir, concert band, jazz band, and various chamber ensembles have been performed by school, university, and community ensembles throughout the Midwest. In addition to his work as a teacher and composer, Mr. O’Neil also serves as an arranger, accompanist, adjudicator, and conductor. He currently lives in Lawrence, KS, with his family.
