A quick write/record phone demo PSA.  I’ve always had issue with distracted drivers.  You see it every day.  The failing to keep a lane, the not looking before changing lanes or pulling into traffic, or worse yet, slamming into a rescue vehicle while they’re tying to help someone else, completely oblivious to the reflective paint and flashing lights.

Since I’ve had three extremely close calls in the past week, two just last night, all by people pulling into traffic without looking, I’ve had the notion for this song bouncing around in my noggin.

Be safe out there folks.  Driving should be an active act of intention, not a passive exercise performed in a state of mental autopilot.

FAWM one take phone demo, for a story cube challenge I wrote during the last day of FAWM.  Sorry for the dogs playing in the background.

For those that don’t know, story cubes are six sided dice with pictures on each side.  Each die has different pictures. On the first day of FAWM, I was rolled a running horse, a broken bone, a crab, a worried face, and a thief stealing treasure.  

I didn’t get around to doing anything with it until the last few hours, so this was knocked out quickly in the wee hours of the morning, and it was too late to make noise with recording a demo, and left it alone until now.

We’re planning to give this song more attention, but the skeletal framework is here to build on... a little late for the gyaws deadline of this past Saturday.  Doh!  Sorry Amanda.

Call Me Your Man

Written for the GYAWS songwriting group's weekly challenge to the prompt of Try, try again.

I've often said that for me, music is better than therapy.  All my inner struggles can be sifted through, explored and made into art.  This song is essentially a spotlight on the battle my wife fights daily against her ever worsening health, and her sheer determination in the face of constant bad news to push forward and continue to try.

It's a basic phone demo, performed in my kitchen shortly after it was written, warts and all.  I had to retake the bridge several times as I kept falling apart, so there's a bit of a pop at the point where it was spliced together.

I Can’t Wait [Demo] - Stuart Benbow

Michigan based acoustic Americana singer-songwriter Stuart Benbow writes and performs music on a diverse pool of topics, from heartfelt emotion laden ballads to laid back music with some drive, to geeky music about things like Doctor Who and Firefly.

The tracks found here are demo versions and scratch tracks produced shortly after songs have been written, rather than album-ready pieces, so the quality will vary from very rough guitar/vocal tracks with an abundance of errors to fully developed instrumentation that just needs some polish and a good mix/master.
