Aris Hoornaer wil de Gerhard Richter van de ambient worden (Daklozenkrant Utrecht Nr. 1, november 1994).  
Hiermee doelde hij op de Duitse schilder die al decennialang aan de top van de kunstwereld staat met zijn abstract-realistische schilderijen.  
Het abstracte en het concrete komen in in mijn muziek samen.  
'Voor mij geldt: muziek maken is fouten maken. Je probeert toch altijd iets nieuws te maken. Dat kan alleen maar door fouten te maken. Zelfs als je probeert iets na te maken, maak je fouten. Originaliteit laat zich moeilijk de kop indrukken.'  
'Het andere uiterste is natuurlijk als je bijvoorbeeld geluidsopnames van een kruispunt met toeterend verkeer opnames gaat maken. Een object trouvé kan ook té trouvé zijn.'
