The unscratchable itch.
That neverending, nagging feeling in our guts.
The armies of ants crawling through our arms.
That dark, demonic voice in the back of our heads.

Be it for chocolate, coffee, competition or cigarettes (or nicorettes) or a nice dress, for alcohol, attention, analgetics or after-eights, for hash or heroin, hairstyle changes or heated conversations, for long walks on the beach and less stress in retreats, for Molly, Melanie or Mary Jane, for working more, working out, or really: working it! out, for watching porn, partying harder, poodle petting or people pleasing, recreational cruising or rectal teasing, for spice (melaaaange), sexy scenes or sugar odysseys, total control or tragic tears, for youth and for zen things, for new beginnings and happy endings.

It comes knocking.
Ticking, telling us what time it is.

And maybe, one time, when we find what we are looking for, there will be - for a brief moment - a calmness.
Heavenly bliss.
But oooh nooo, The Longing is not gone yet. It still has a bit of energy left.

So we take another hit, another sip, another trip, watch another flick, perform a hotter trick, suck a brothers dick, fuck another chick, chuck some other shit.
Mark that task completed with a tick.

There will come a time when the airplane finally takes off, after a long, hard run on the asphalt.
We're cruising.
We've got this, baby!

Mood Reel #05 - The Old Man And The Cat

My first foray into generative music, decided to take on the one note challenge over at FAWM.org

I settled on B because why not, and fed ultra-long midi notes and instrument samples in B into some great sounding Plugins:
There's "Frozen", "Rain" & "In Suspension" chained together, "Twins at Sunset" with a Probability Arp, "Wood Drip" Percussion with Rotating Rhytm Generators, an arpeggiated Synth Bass, lots and lots of Spring Reverb as well as fiddling with virtual knobs, switches and faders.

Listening through it, I had this unsettling feeling of being trapped in the piece and I wanted to escape. But there was no escape, it was chasing me and I had to listen until the end, where it finally got me. So yeah, I confess: there is an end to the escape, but I will technically never *really* escape it because now it's here, on the internet, forever.

I added some field recordings of steps in the snow to emphasize the escape "theme" and used this sample of a guy saying "There is no escape" because I liked it better than my own recordings:
