HANS NIESWANDT @hans-nieswandt

Hans Nieswandt(한스 니스반트)는 디제이 컬쳐, 뮤직 프로덕션, 대중 음악 저술 분야의 전설적인 인물이자, 독일과 그 외 지역에서 높이 평가되고 있는 저명한 인물이다. 그는 80년대 후반 독일에서 일찍이 하우스 음악의 선구자로서 DJ로 활동하며 그에 대해 영향력 있는 매거진 Spex에서 글을 썼다. 90년대 초반에는 Spex에서 수석 편집자로서 일하기도 하였다.

 한편, 솔로이자 그룹으로도 활동했던 Whirlpoop Productions으로 수많은 음반을 녹음 하였고, 특히 오늘날 클래식으로 여겨지는 “From Disco To Disco” 트랙은 이탈리아 음원 사이트 1위, 그 외 여러 나라 차트 10위 안에 들면서 세계적인 기록을 남겼다.

 디제이로서 그의 폭은 넓고 깊다. 그의 셋은 보통 디스코, 하우스, 테크노를 중심으로 이루어지지만, 히피 음악, 포크, 재즈, 소울, 레게, 포스트 펑크, 바로크 팝, 일렉트로닉, 더 나아가 컨트리 음악과 그 외의 즐길 수 있는 장르까지 아우르기도 한다.

 디제잉과 뮤직 프로덕션 외에도 그는 수많은 에세이와 글을 출판한 작가이다. (이 중에는 독일 디제이 컬쳐와 전자음악에 대해 쓴 성공적인 책 3권이 포함된다.) 그의 일환으로 2017년 디스코 뮤직에 대한 에세이는 International Music Journalism Award를 수상했다.

 한편, 그는 2014년부터 2019년까지 신예 팝 뮤지션들의 석사 과정을 위해 새로 설립된 Folkwang University of Arts의 Institute for Pop-Musik에서 설립자로서 활동 하였지만, 2019년 크리스마스에 그는 학계를 떠났고 그의 고향인 쾰른을 떠나 서울로 이주했다. 지금 그는 서울에 거주하며 새로운 음악 작업과 책을 쓰며 한국을 탐험하고 있다.

Coolrnch fell into French House when he was in middle school and started DJing as a hobby.
Driven by the charm of the old, he plays music from various countries and genres that have bright energy, mainly based on 7-80s disco, italo disco,and classic house music.
Overall, he pursue a set of music that anyone on his dancefloor can feel comfortable and fun so that people can be themselves and dance freely.
Also as a member of a ‘WorkHardPartyHarder’, a party label based in Seoul, he has been organising parties and playing music various venues in Seoul on a regular basis.

Coolrnch (Cool Ranch) is a Seoul-based DJ and record collector. He started DJing as a hobby when he was in middle school, and in 2021, he debuted on Seoul's local scene through Seoul Community Radio. He collects and plays records from various countries and genres that have bright energy, mainly focusing on 70s-80s disco, Italo disco, synth-pop, soul, funk, Balearic, 90s house, electro, and 90s trance. Overall, he pursues a set of music that makes anyone on his dancefloor feel comfortable and have fun, allowing people to be themselves and dance freely.

He hosts a monthly show titled ‘Cool Ranch Discos’ on Visla FM, a local radio station in Seoul. As a member of ‘WorkHardPartyHarder’ and ‘Cha Cha Mambo’, a party label based in Seoul, he regularly organizes parties and plays music at various venues in the city.

He has performed in various countries, including Bar Bridge Shinjuku (Tokyo), Kiosk Radio (Brussels), Bordello Aperitivo (Amsterdam), and HWK (London), and has recently expanded his activities overseas by playing at the Toy Tonics Italomania party in Berlin.

He curates sets that make everyone on the dancefloor feel comfortable and have fun, allowing people to be themselves and dance freely.
He hosts a bi-monthly radio show, Cool Ranch Discos, on Visla FM, a Seoul-based underground radio station. As a member of the party labels WorkHardPartyHarder and Cha Cha Mambo, he regularly organizes events and plays at various venues across the city, establishing himself as one of the young DJs keeping the Seoul disco scene alive.
