This is a light-hearted, teen boy aspirational girl crazy song written in the late 80s early 90s. Used a new condenser mic for vocs with layering, didn't use any EQ or effects yet on this mix and need to boost the bass a bit. Morry and I can't get together for about the next month so we'll probably remix then. Hope you enjoy this one. Not too PC by today's (or any) standards but we were truly teens when we first wrote this 30+ years ago. All the best to our SC friends.

Same Old Dance

Finding some old Tascam 4 or 8 track (cassette) recordings of songs from the late 80s/early 90s when Morry and I recorded during summers back from college and after, when we lived together in an apartment in 90/91ish...and played out as a duo occasionally. We had a lot of influences but seems like many songs from this time had an XTC influence. We were in our late teens, early 20s so my memories are not that sharp :) Mix has some blend issues but fun to hear these again. Hope you enjoy. Not sure why we called it Lady Lexus...maybe Morry will remember and comment. Morry wrote this song.

Well, I found another version of this song. Interesting to compare to the version I posted before. This version would have been recorded a little later when we lived in an apt together after college and played out as a duo a bit. If I remember right this is more of a live sound capture with little to no overdubs (?). We are both playing and singing here and the sound quality is a little better. Still on a Tascam cassette.  Just posting these for fun and I think sometimes it is interesting to hear different versions of a song recorded over time.

Mend Our Love (2)

Another from the late 80s/early 90s cassette vault. Recorded this around the age that our kids are now. A time when you are preparing to leave behind what you have known. Excited about the future and at the same time reflecting on the roots of security you are severing. Not sure if you will want to return. Telling yourself what you need to hear to leave with confidence. At least this is one interpretation :) Hope you enjoy and hoping Morry and I can get together soon to record again. Got some half finished.

Another experiment from our teens/20s. I remember we wrote the music and it just felt like it fit with darker, mysterious vibe lyrics so we ran with it. Hope all our SC friends are doing well!

Wanted to Say

Morry and I are making a concerted effort to start finishing at least one song ever month or so. This is an old one we discovered in the 4 track archives from the 80s/90s that was fun to reimagine on our Tascam DP24. Hope all our SC friends are well and enjoy this one.

Promises

Tascam cassette archive find. Morry and I were asked to perform this early 70s  song at a friend's mother's wedding in 1991. We had never heard the song before but our friend's mom liked the original Paul Stookey/Peter, Paul and Mary version of it I think - and she was nice enough to risk asking us... two not so responsibility young guys to perform it. We had both just graduated college in May of '90 and had returned to Louisville. We practiced the song for the week or two leading up to the ceremony and recorded this live take on our Tascam in our apartment as part of prepping. I think we may have sent the tape to the bride as sort of a proof of life gesture - that we actually took learning it seriously enough to be trusted at the wedding. When the time came, we packed up Morry's round-back Ovation acoustic guitar and drove to the wedding in Chicago. Stayed with the friend and his family for the weekend. One of the most fun weddings, from what I can remember of it lol  I really like Morry's guitar playing on this. Hope our FB friends enjoy.

Stookey had first performed the song at the wedding of Peter Yarrow—Stookey's co-member of Peter Paul & Mary—to Mary Beth McCarthy at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Willmar, Minnesota. Stookey was best man at the ceremony, which took place in the evening of October 18, 1969.

Stookey recorded "Wedding Song (There Is Love)" for his solo album Paul and, which was released on July 23, 1971. On this track he accompanied himself on a 12-string guitar tuned a tone and a half down. On June 28, 1971, "Wedding Song" was issued as an advance single from the Paul and album. Mostly live version of this late 90s song by our band Ten Months Later. Written by Randy Arnold (lead vocs and guitar). Morry (lead guitar) and I (background vocs) are in there. Along with Yandell Wood (Drums) drums and Matt Garlove (Bass). Seem to remember this was a recording from a practice with a few overdubs. (?)

Always loved Scott Miller's music and this song. Maybe we'll work up a full version. This was a brief experimentation with the vocals using computer mic with garage band to demo. Hope all our SC friends are well.

Another recent Morry project. Cover of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) song from the 80s. I have no clue how he did all the instrumentation but he recorded using his Tascam DP24. 

Song info: "So in Love" is a 1985 song by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), released as the first single from their album Crush. It reached the top 30 of both the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming their first entry on the latter. The track was a top 10 hit in Belgium and Holland.

This is a song fragment made with garageband with imac built-in mic and AC unit running in the background lol. Hoping we will have time in the future for Morry and I to develop it into a complete song. At lunch the other day I was thinking of the lyrics of Iris Dement's song, "Let the mystery be" and started writing on a similar theme, then playing with a piece of a melody an harmony vocals. I have some other lyric edits started. We hope our SC friends enjoy this short demo.

Last Horizon (Demo)

Written and lead singing by Randy Arnold, who was our group leader.  
Old tracks from late 90s band Morry and I were members of - Ten Months Later. Morry played lead guitar and I played rhythm guitar and sang back up vocs. The main singer is our friend Randy Arnold who wrote this song. Other bandmates: Yandell Wood (Drums) and Matt Garlove (Bass), along with other friends. Recorded mainly in Matt's basement. Sadie Hawkins Dance was the name of the album.

This is a rare true pop, upbeat song for us. Written in the late 80s when we were in our late teens, early 20s. IMO this song is made by Morry's instrumentation. Based on true events :) Hope you enjoy this one.
