Dance To Life 04 (Live Twitch Stream)

It’s been a while since I posted a mix, and what better way to get back in the game than with a tribute mix to the man Marsh!

About four years ago. I put out into the ether intention of wanting to work with an awesome producer that I respected. Within a couple weeks I saw an Instagram post from Marsh that he was taking on mentoring a few more students. It was quite the synchronicity…

I had been super impressed with Marsh‘s sound and funny enough one of my friends had been pinging Jody to sign his music to anjunadeep. What I couldn’t understand was that at that time I had more Instagram followers than Marsh even though he was writing this incredible music that I was so certain would blow up soon. 

Because of his openness and commitment to my success and growth as a person and a producer, I was able to complete a track that I felt pretty good about and put it out on a friends label on Spotify. The track is titled “Hormesis,” and would not exist without the support of his insight and honest feedback. He also played an unreleased track of mine in his Spectrum Radio mix for Joris Voorn.

I knew when the pandemic hit that I was in a rare opportunity to work with him, while touring was down. I’d get up early mornings before work and hear his insights on my projects and would often be lucky enough to see him create new songs from scratch, including one of my favorites: Another Planet. As soon as events returned post pandemic, it was no surprise to me to see him touring around the world and playing at some of the biggest locations and prestigious clubs.

It was a true joy connecting the pieces of this story and cycling back through the memories over the years. I hope you enjoy this collection of bangerz produced by an incredibly talented producer, but even better person. It is no surprise that the synchronicity this time is that as soon as I started working on the mix, he announced the planning and release of a new album!

Before attending an Anjunadeep concert out here in LA, I started contemplating which DJs are currently on my Mount Rushmore. More specifically whether Jody Wisternoff was or not. I thought about how my favorite music label is Anjunadeep, and how Jody's progressions and melodies are able to move me in ways that current EDM tracks simply cannot.
I had the pleasure of meeting the man himself after his set at LA Exchange. He was going around hugging people taking photos, signing autographs, and cherishing the moment. I spent around the next hour chatting with him about his past success as a member of Way Out West, his current masterpieces, and the future of electronic music. We even did a victory lap around the venue and he danced amongst the crowd as if he was just another concert goer. The guys in his young 40s, has two kids and a wife, and still manages to do the thing he loves most. One of my mottos is that I like to play authentic house for authentic people, Jody clearly embodies this.

So yes... yes he is on my Mount Rushmore of DJs. Now I just have to figure out who are the other three...
