          A weekend among many of them. Louis, Tom and Killian joined to spend time together. To make music. This time, its in the middle of Burgundy that they settled their equipment. An ephemeral studio, in the very center of an old stony home. That's exactly when they came up with the diptyque ”First Thing". At the crossroads of future dub, reggae and trip-hop, First Thing is filled with aerial and inspiring melodies, cleverly mixed with a steady bassline composition.

          Un week end parmi tant d’autres, Louis, Tom et Killian se sont
retrouvés pour passer du temps. Et pour composer. Cette fois, c’est en
plein cœur du climat bourguignon qu’ils installent leur matériel. Un
studio éphémère, au centre du salon d’une vieille maison de pierres. Ils
reprennent les basiques.
Trois amis, des claviers, des guitares, un ordinateur. Un micro. Un feu
de cheminée. L’automne. Sumac Dub and The Maucals, qui n’en sont
pas à leur coup d'essai, composeront alors plusieurs titres. Deux
d’entre eux sont sur le point de vous être révélés.
First Thing, titre éponyme du projet, est à écouter comme il a été
peint: en éloge de la simplicité. Celle du choix d’être au même endroit,
au même moment.
Lavender, le second, est un cri d’espoir, un appel à se retrouver toutes
et tous. Pour replacer l’entraide au centre des relations humaines,
parfois faussées par le rapportaux nouvelles technologies.
Comme Sumac Dub and The Maucals, ces deux objets sonores sont
inextricablement mêlés. Ils forment un diptyque inclassable dont les
mélodies planantes transportent par-dessus les bocages. Par dessus
les forêts. Et quand le savant mélange rythmique-basse vous aura
happé dans une marche assurée, vous arriverez sur le péron de cette
maison. Alors vous pourrez peut-être apercevoir, par la fenêtre, Sumac
Dub and The Maucals, qui vous invitent au plus près de leur histoire
commune. La musique.

Hey friends, a lot has happened since my last album, Norska, in 2020.

Concerts, singles and remixes here and there, two EPs, even a live performance in paragliding… Safe to say, we had a lot of fun these past four years.
But above all, there was a lot of work behind the scenes. Countless hours spent thinking about this new album, refining my artistic direction, crafting my sound, and building my message.

This will be the most personal album in my discography, as I’ve truly put a piece of myself into it.

Today, I’m excited to share with you Une Étoile Filante, the first single from this album. But honestly, I can’t wait for you to experience the entire project, because that’s when it all comes together and takes on its full meaning.

Composé autour d’une conversation entre mon père et moi, capturée par hasard il y a 25 ans sur une VHS lors d’une soirée d’observation des étoiles filantes, l’album explore le souvenir, la transmission et notre rapport au temps. Il plonge l’auditeur·ice dans l’intimité du cocon familial, la naïveté de l’enfance et la tendresse d’un père face à l’infiniment grand.

Aujourd’hui, si on lève les yeux vers la constellation de la Lyre et que l’on observe son étoile la plus brillante, Alpha Lyrae, nous la voyons telle qu’elle était il y a 25 ans, au moment où je partageais cet instant de complicité avec mon père.

Built around a conversation with my father, accidentally recorded 25 years ago on a VHS during a night of stargazing, the album explores memory, transmission, and our relationship with time. It draws the listener into the warmth of family, the innocence of childhood, and a father’s tenderness before the vastness of the universe.

When we look up at the Lyra constellation today and spot its brightest star, Alpha Lyrae, we’re seeing it as it was 25 years ago, the very moment I shared that special bond with my father.

Trained Violin player and compulsive traveler, Sumac Dub has found in music a way to create unknown worlds that explores without limits.

The artist has drawn most of his inspiration through his various journeys in Asia and in Middle East. Enriched by multiple musical influences and largely influenced by the current electro dub scene, Sumac gave birth to its own dub in which harmony and power come together brilliantly.

Always armed with his violin, it is once on stage that the artist really comes to establish his identity in a real fusion of raw energy and mystical delicacy. Thrills guaranteed !
