Jey Kurmis is set to be a name on the rise after the ‘Lil’ Nic French EP’ drops on Hot Creations later this month. A four pronged attack of bumping summer jams flecked with infectious vocals - lead track ‘Lil’ Nic French’ first appeared on Richy Ahmed’s massive Rinse FM compilation and rightly sets the tone with its heavy bass beat and mind bending acid line. Next up, ‘LA Shazz’ specialises in a chunky percussive groove and heavy low-end. On the flip, ‘Lover’ is an irresistible al fresco affair centred on a super groovy cowbell that builds with tight kicks and a richly textured soundbed. Closing the package, ‘Miss Raadi’ is another deadly groover laced with a dose of freakiness.

Jey Kurmis is a Leeds based producer who has been dj'ing all over the UK for almost ten years and producing for around 7 years. From his first release on Phobic Records to this artist defining EP for Hot Creations, Jey has been honing his craft across ten releases and this EP has been getting championed by some of the biggest names in the game including Heidi, Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed and wAFF.

Playground Records presents its 68th main catalogue release, Late Night Shit, a posthumous work from our beloved Canadian-Mexican friend and artist Ali X. This record had already been prepared and sent for distribution during Ali’s lifetime, and he was deeply enthusiastic and full of ideas about its release. With three original tracks and a remix by Chicago’s BRKN, Late Night Shit embodies everything Ali X stood for: raw, fearless energy where House and Indie collide in wild, dirty grooves made for the after-hours. Distorted basslines, twisted rhythms and cool, no-rules attitude mark a sound that is unapologetic, sweaty and pure late-night chaos—just as Ali envisioned.

After consulting Ali’s closest friends, collaborators Don Jon and GuzzX (who appear on two of the original tracks), and BRKN (who delivers the remix), we agreed to honour his wish and release this record exactly as planned. All proceeds will be donated to his family as a way of supporting those he loved most. Late Night Shit now stands as a tribute to Ali X—a fearless creator, a generous soul, and an unforgettable friend. His spirit lives on in the music, in his collaborators, and in everyone who dances to his sound. Ali X forever.

Hauswerks - Riptide (Original Mix)

We’re already hitting February in elrow Music HQ and as starting point, here it is the first of two references to spread the love around in Valentine’s month. ERM097 is brought to us by Italian duo Supernova (aka Emiliano Nencioni & Giacomo Godi), a three tracker short take named ‘City Lights EP’. Opening the EP we have ‘Rock The Disco (Original Mix)’, a track high in energy, very playful and with that carnivalesque vibe we all love from elrow latest releases. Following, we find ‘What What (Original Mix)’, that starts just where ‘Rock The Disco’ left it, with a perfectly recognizable tech-house progression, less energetic but with a great vibe of its own, making it a great selection for moody times on the dancefloor, putting the highlight on the sirens by the final section of the track. But the real banger here is ‘Get Hot (Original Mix)’, a track with a truly unique vibe since the beginning till the end, thanks to those horn sounds, strong percussion and subtle and tender vocal line in the background, with great attention to small details. No doubt it will make any crowd go mad within seconds. With this magnificent ERM097 we’re just three releases away from a big landmark in elrow Music, that will reach its 100th release quite soon. Sydney Blu - Mind Games

Following on from his well-received ‘Impermanence’ EP in 2015, Sidney Charles makes a welcome return to the Truesoul fold. 

It may be a surprise to learn Sidney Charles only produced his first record in 2011; indeed, the Hamburg-born, London-based artist has crafted some of the most sophisticated and effective productions spanning the house and techno genre in recent years, taking inspiration from the rough jacking sounds of the early ‘90s. 

His first release on Truesoul in three years sees him in typically inspired form with a versatile four-track package. ‘Jack Endlessly’ builds layer upon layer of groove-ridden beats and ravey stabs that lead into an exaggerated build up, all deftly complimented by a suggestive vocal sample. ‘R.E.D.’ contrasts excellently, a dirty bass-driven cut with shades of Chicago, that makes its mark courtesy of a rousing soulful vocal. ‘Unchained’ sounds as though it was forged in a knives factory, as expertly programmed drums rub shoulders with deep twisted subterranean stabs for a pin-sharp finish. ‘‘Molec’ closes out the EP as a shimmering end-of-night melodic gem that reinforces the German’s versatility and thoughtfulness as a producer.

The big man is back! Stefano Noferini, the man behind the Deeperfect brand, is stepping up to the plate for his first release of 2018. On this EP he is joined by the Florentine newcomer duo, Habits. Together the three collaborators deliver a two track EP of the finest quality club weapons. 
‘Timisoara’ starts off in a manner that is instantly recognisable as a tough cut of Deeperfect’s signature stripped-back tech house. A solid beat is punctuated with sprinkles of tribal percussion and underpinned by a pulsing sub line. Eerie pads and ethnic choirs bring the drama up with quick intensity and create an enveloping atmosphere that brings the track to life. Sweeping FX and an energetic rides help to create intense sections of energy, which are contrasted by moments of serenely deep vibes.
The second and final track, ‘Papizh’, opens with a tight pushing beat that is joined by a rising bass riff that gives a definition to the groove and flow to the composition. Forest soundscapes and swells of synthesis wash across the speakers and offer a level of depth and mystery which helps the energy of the track to rise exponentially. Then, unexpectedly yet with masterful delivery, comes the introduction of an operatic vocal, which pays homage to the rich cultural history of the city of Florence where the three artists reside. 
The ‘Timisoara EP’ is both very unique and exceptionally functional and delivers a extremely original take on modern club music. A must have EP for a huge range of DJ’s and music fans alike.

Ramon Tapia drops his first solo outing for Truesoul with the classy ‘Manipulate’.

The recent outstanding form of Ramon Tapia has been too good to ignore for Adam Beyer. In December the Belgian dropped the powerful ‘Hexagon’ as part of the Truesoul V/A EP, and with Beyer’s attention on lock, follows up swiftly with the excellent ‘Manipulate’ EP.

The title track embodies the ethos of Truesoul to a tee; a crisp and groovy work that straddles the divide between house and techno, it’s a late-night burner that shines courtesy of a dark searing electro bassline and pin-sharp drum work that builds up to a deliciously nasty finish. Its accompaniment is ‘Adam and Eve’, a punchy peak-time cut elevated by an energetic vocal, atmospheric pad and energetic melody line that has it begging to be dropped during a euphoric festival moment.

Premiere: Vibe Killers - Moon Rocks (Andrea Oliva Remix) [Rawthentic]

Underground London duo MANT have kicked off 2019 in style with a landmark new EP titled Higher Self on Solardo’s inimitable Sola label. Featuring two heady house and techno cuts Higher Self is a bold statement of intent from the pair, whose distinguished house and techno sound has been attracting attention throughout the industry, tipping them for big things in 2019. 

2018 was a seismic year for MANT. The duo’s highly respected productions have found their way onto labels like Cr2, Solotoko, Sola, and VIVa Music while their raucous DJ sets left a mark on festivals and clubs up and down the country. 2018 saw the boy’s support from tastemakers grow too, including the likes of  Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones,  Steve Lawler, Joris Voorn, Claude VonStroke, Nic Fancuilli, and many more.  

MANT possess a committed work ethic and drive for all things house and techno, which means it comes as no surprise that 2019 is looking even brighter. Not afraid to hit the ground running, Higher Self marks their first release of the year and does so with hypnotic grooves, acid-inspired melodies and club-ready atmospherics that draw on the pair’s eclectic range of influences. 

A-side Higher Self fuses intoxicating vocals and rich drum programming for an enchanting dancefloor gem. On the flip, Bonbon shifts the focus on low-slung grooves, hard hitting waves of bass and densely layered jittering synths for a high-energy cut.
