Fast rising star and favourite in the Hot Creations camp, Patrick Topping is back with another outstanding release after his highly successful debut EP was released on Hot Trax earlier this year, followed soon after by the even more successful ‘Any Amounts’ EP on Hot Creations. Through the old­fashioned demos route, Northerner Patrick Topping caught the attention of the Hot Creations camp as they recognised his undeniable talent. 

Impressing us all with his debut EP ‘Walk On’, Patrick made it to no.5 in the Beatport Deep House chart, with his tracks being championed by Pete Tong on his legendary BBC radio 1 show. His next EP ‘Any Amounts’ was one of the biggest releases of the year for Hot Creations with all tracks making it in the top 10 in the tech house charts and staying there for weeks.

At 24 years old, Patrick first built a DJ career around playing at his own popular club night in Newcastle (Motion), where he booked and played alongside some of the biggest names in the business. This year he made his Ibiza debut, at no less than DC10 for Paradise in July and continues to make his name heard on the international stage with plenty of gigs lined up.

Things look set to be big for Patrick next year with a track signed to the Defected Miami CD coming early next year and remixes on the way for Circus Recordings and Resonance Records.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

One year on since the first installment, the mighty Hot Creations turn up the heat as they get set to unleash ‘Hot Summer Jams 2’, featuring eight exclusive tracks from familiar faces and blossoming new talents.

The first half of the v/a welcomes back some favourite artists with the first track coming from label head and main man himself Jamie Jones, hot off the heels of some far reaching releases as Hot Natured and solo anthems. He delivers the storming future anthem, ‘Danger Mouse’. Next up Suara boss Coyu delivers ‘The Cat’ featuring the stunning vocals of Cari Golden. On an old school tip, New Yorker MANIK hits us with ‘Freak Your House feat. MC Kew G’ followed by a dance ready track from Alexis Raphael, who had his first track signed to Hot Waves back in 2011.

Dynamic duo Leftwing & Kody make their first appearance on the label as they team up with Cera Alba to deliver the heavy duty ‘I Got One Way’. Newcomers David Glass & CDC, Sean Branton and Neil Parkes also make their debuts on the label with serious impact. With two fantastic releases under their belt, they are now proud to present the third by a man who knows a thing about hard work and dedication in Data Transmission firm favourite Denney. Hailing from Leeds, he risen through the ranks to achieve global support, now regularly producing and DJing with legends of the scene. With a unique sound, incorporating everything from UK rave culture to futuristic electronica, his music is far from predictable and these two original tracks which highlight the eternity of the Roland TB-303 are no different.

The release opens with todays Debut Transmission ‘Bambuco’, a track laced with tight percussion, infectious acid lines and ravey stabs. All of this works alongside a relentless bassline and driving hi-hats to make the perfect dancefloor track. The EP finishes with a remix of ‘Bambuco’ from 20/20 Vision family member, The Mekanism, which is pretty special!

Ki Creighton has teamed up with regular collaborators Tolstoi & Andsan for 'Portage', Underground Audio's latest release.

The pace of the EP is set by opening record 'Portage', the non-lexical vocal melody pushing the track fowards. Caleb Calloway then cuts up the original mix, focusing on a staggered bassline to create the space for intricate percussion rhythms.

'Hooper' sees the 'Under No Illusion' label boss Creighton working back alongside Tolstoi & Andsan for an acid inspired 303 roller, who then calls upon the expertise of Yost Koen to round off the top-drawer EP with his interpretation

Sven Tasnadi offers up a heady interpretation of ‘Music 999’ to follow fuelled by stuttering vocals, stab sequences and a bumpy drum workout before Schlepp Geist & Krink’s remix of ACK closes the package on a dark and brooding tip.

It comes after the duo have spent years putting out music on the likes of Get Physical, Defected, Mother and of course their own Lapsus Music. They play a hybrid live and DJ set around the world in the most essential clubs and festivals and have done for more than a decade. They have worked with legends like Kevin Sanderson and scored plenty of club hits and now they are sure to do so again. 

Opener ‘The Black Milk’ is a high impact and energetic cut with old school piano stabs. Clipped vocal loops add fuel to the fire and the big house drums power it along to great effect while deep bass underpins the whole thing. On the flip, Deep Mamba is a more stripped back and late night tune. It has rasping bass, more silky diva vocals and a hypnotic groove that really gets you moving your rump. 

These are two vital new tunes that are designated for big things.

After his successful releases on Soma, Cocoon and Saved, lands in Suara with "Kickback" and "Taste", two delicious pieces of modern techno with disco house influences. Two of the hottest artists of the current house scene, Cadenza's Argy and Hot Creation's wAFF bring "Kickback" and "Taste" to a next level. Both look very influenced for the garage of the 90's, Argy makes a sweet interpretation where the kickdrum is the key, meanwhile wAFF shows us his ghetto roots with a superb mix between old school hip hop and futuristic techno music.

Radio Slave returns to his Rekids label with ‘Live My Life’, including a remix from Saved Records’ boss Nic Fanciulli.

Responsible for some of the most recognisable vocal tracks in techno for the past 15 years, Radio Slave’s latest sees him turn in yet another tough, infectious cut that uses soulful vocal refrains as hooks. Airtight, rolling grooves have been a prominent feature in much of Radio Slave’s work, and ‘Live My Life’ is no different, paired with occasionally overlapping vocals it’s a masterclass in tension and release.

On the flip, Grammy-nominated and globally renowned DJ and producer Nic Fanciulli cleverly reinterprets Edwards’ original, in a version that sees a pulsing, offbeat bassline and ever-evolving drums drive the track towards vocal crescendos throughout. Stirring, memorable, and yet another outstanding release from one of dance music’s finest.
