... we have spared no expense or effort in putting this project together - it took over 2 years to collect the right tracks for the compilation and then even after that a considerable amount of time went on working out the running order, getting the mastering done (thanks to Beau Thomas for the Vinyl and Macc for the CD masters!), putting together the mix CD and getting the artwork finalised (thanks again Louisa!). I hope these efforts have helped to create a durable and collectable piece of work.

"The follow up to 'Skadi' by Austria's Sub on Subtle Audio:

The next Subtle Audio 12", from Austria's Sub which follows on from his previous Release on the Label, 'Skadi'. Two D&B Cuts and a Downtempo Piece will feature on the Vinyl and they're extremely good indeed.

'Tensions' is a beautifully delicate piece of D&B. Sharp snares, hi-hats and drifting atmospheres are underpinned by sub-zero bass sound. Suddenly the beats thicken and become twisted and glitchy. It’s almost as if the frozen lake you were standing on is beginning to crack and give way...

'Halleluja' is on the half-speed tip and probably will not even sound like D&B to most. Choir voices are interrupted by a stepping beat and shuddering, dirty bassline, offset by a world of icey atmospherics, echoes and feedback. This is truly from another planet.

'Hydra' is something a little different for Subtle Audio clocking in at 120bpm but certainly doesn't sound like house or techno! It's a nicely mellow track with a lurching, jerky beat which is filtered and reversed but always rhythmical. Dark Rhodes keys and then a bright piano line ensure a nice variance of mood in this beautifully balanced piece."

Absys Records Limited sublabel shows up again, now with this "Deep Dubstep Compilation". Twelve tracks, most of them in 140 bpm tempo, are brought to our attention by various artists from all around the world, many of whom previously contributed their work to the label with great outcome. As Absys had proven before, quality is constant, but each single track differs in atmosphere, as the range of influences is very wide. We are cruising from dark and brooding concerns in "Inhale" and to the lighter touch of summer in Barefoot's "Sundance", ethnic elements in "Unsafe Operations" are moving towards some catchy vocals and stabs in LeStR "Vapour", sense of ethereal feeling of "Queen of Heaven" to overwhelming power of doubt in Nuage's "Let me Believe" – it is all here.
