Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, through Skankandbass Introducing we release a series of free download singles which aims to spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

SNB084 comes to us from Radiax, the poster boy of the burgeoning Chinese drum & bass scene.  Originally from Jilin, a remote city in Northern China, the now Beijing based talent has quickly made a name for himself with a string of accomplished releases on Unchained Asia; capped off by an appearance on Hospital Record’s Sick Music 2020.  He now debuts his intoxicating production style on Skankandbass Introducing with ‘Oil / Xingfu Lu’.

Black Opps on PROX093 is an exercise in dark sound, drawing on war-influenced samples and opting for uncompromising drums and bass. Jericho EP is a triplet of tunes that further help define the essence of the Proximity sound.

The opening track, ‘TomaHawk’ has the sound of danger in a post-apocalyptic world. The initial protection provided by the cover of synths help introduce the main body of the track. This protection is soon cut back, unleashing a powerful skeleton uncompromising in its rawness. Both ethereal and grand, the title track, ‘Jericho’, creates an atmosphere similar to the tense moments before a battle. This peels away to reveal a gritty underside, coloured with images of a dark subterranean dance. Thirdly, ‘Brah-Mos’ is an unmistakable darkside roller, smooth and ready for those who want to move.
