The third instalment of our four-part 12" series features our favorite artists from around the world.

Melbourne's Pugilist opens the gates with 'Flip Trix.' It's a dub-drenched, broken techno hybrid with earth-shattering low-end throughout. This lengthy 130bpm track, with foggy breaks and frosty pads, smartly concludes on a 4x4 beat to ensure a smooth exit. 'Flip Trix' is certainly a future percy for all.

Iggy Dope’s EtherwerkZ label continues its higher assembly of bass futurists with the third Ascension compilation. Volume 3 scours the globe to find Mulholland, Mercy System, Flaty, Oyubi, Warzou, NirBorna, Young Muscle and noRecall in finest form, cross-examining variations on the theme of broken club rhythms and meticulous sound design.

Manchester’s Mercy System goes deeper with Pressure Changes, cloaking a neatly sound
designed redux of hardcore inclinations with a gentle bruk’d rhythm and light dub touch.

Lisbon’s Eterna, run by local mainstay @mariaamoramormaria , returns to shed light on more incredible music coming from her city. @hiromakeo is an imaginative, skilled composer who participates actively in the scene and devotes his life to music in its various manifestations. His new EP on Eterna, titled ‘Agora Mas Nunca’ (which translates as ‘Now Yet Never’) is a testament to curiosity-driven, exciting sound design - and absolutely sick rhythmic patterns.
Abstract bass-led two-step vibrations flood our ears in the stunning opener ‘Agora’, its mutant synths providing both rhythm and tension like detailed sonic painting. The tone is set for an adventurous musical journey that continues on with ‘Nunca’, a seamless fusion between digital and organic sounds, with polyrhythmic percussion leading the way, peppered with playful cut-up vocals and texture manipulation. Sound effects that sing are the name of the game in this EP - and ‘Salto’ is a prime example with its flanger-drenched, futuristic dub intro that unhurriedly morphs into an uncompromising, low-key rave banger with round basslines and metallic rushes. Club PAs around the world would revel in blasting out nuanced, exciting music like this more often - that’s what pops to mind. The final original is ‘Atraso’, a faster - and infectious - ode to broken, unexpected drum patterns complete with a driving sub-heavy bassline and accented by congas, claps and vocals.
@rhyw , a longtime label favourite, steps in for the first remix with a more concise take on ‘Agora’, stripping it to its essentials and then classically twisting things a little bit to serve elegance and freshness all at once. The second remix rounds the record off perfectly via @ciel_dj ’s intricate, attentive touch. The original is given a four to the floor signature, the bassline is re-calibrated into a bouncy yet sober pattern, textures become subtler but the experimentalist spirit remains.
This one is for listeners and DJs who not only welcome but actively search for fun and innovation in contemporary dance music: the basslines, the unforeseeable drums, the sonic sculptures will take you to places that your mind - and dancing body - is longing for.

Syz launches his new label Vitalizm with VTLZM001, a 4 track sure-shot from its founder of wily club rhythms mutated anew through adventurous construction and intuitive dancefloor nous.

Club rhythms for the soul; a nourishing manifesto for the rave, and for Syz a vital spark through which energy and groove emanate. A prolific producer with a beloved back catalogue, he is no stranger to the sounds that embody the propulsive nature of UK club rhythms. Vitzalizm though is a new venture, his inaugural label founded on the promise of showcasing new and varied developments along the Syz sonic journey. It’s a wide-ranging ethos informed via a complex web of influences that continue to make afresh of club music, while also paying homage to the culture of yesteryears with small vinyl runs and limited lathe-cut dubplate specials.

On VTLZM001, the label’s inaugural release, its founder gets right to it. Down & Twist steps first with an all-round sexy affair, a 2 step mover that swivels deftly on its latin inclinations while updating the early 00’s garage template with fwd> attitude. Next, Bakayadaskunka writhes as a complex beast, busy through the broken beat while its tactile low end purrs and throbs within. Fidget goes faster, a tribal wonderland that pumps giddy yet nimble across its myriad of basslines. The Lizm sees us off, a supple percussive playground which swings playful and loose amongst a livewire of subs, weightless pads and a faint dub echo.

A succinct dancefloor statement of intent from Syz, and an exhilarating beginning for Vitalizm.

𝘴𝘉 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸___After their last collaboration, we’re glad to have 𝗠𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼 and 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗸 back together for another chapter. Their new track "Darkness" dives deeper into their shared sound, driving and spacious. 

As the rhythm develops, each percussive layer adds even more motion that feels fluid. A glowing synth line moves like light cutting through fog, while the low frequencies press forward. The groove breathes, shifting between tension and calm, capturing the moment when emotion meets movement.

Self-released on Bandcamp, "Darkness" shows the duo’s growing chemistry and evolving direction: more mature, more atmospheric and still full of energy.
