Shir Khan and the illusive Exploited crew reveal the first compilation of the cultishly adored Black Jukebox series. It includes the sunniest grooves you’ve heard this year. ’Shir Khan Presents Black Jukebox Disco Jam 01’ is a soundsystem-ready disco-house jam which tickles the subwoofers beautifully and seems purpose built for eyes-wide-shut Summer terrace play in big outdoor spaces. Black Jukebox is traversing the wide spectrum of ‘dancefloor’ music.  There’s much to excite: All four tracks are built for rooftop parties with the deep V crew.
From slo-mo housed up boogie-soul, to a loft-party future classic, to a feel-good, sun-blushed, druggy, late night electric jam, to main room filtered disco house and subbass-bugged R&B…it’s all there.  It’s no wonder the Black Jukebox Vinyl series became buy-on-sight and quick to disappear. Launched in late 2011 by Shir Khan, Black Jukebox was mainly focussed on Vinyl Releases. 13 Releases later, this is the first compilation which sums up some of the best moments and features 3 tracks that were digitally never available before.

After a long hiatus Shir Khan hits us with the 14th edition featuring Onsra & Bas Roos. Secret Parisian project Onsra returns after killing it with "Funky Town" last year. First he gets down on the terrace with the loopy banger of "So Good". A 112BPM disco house number which has a touch of that old Soundstream magic about it yet is instantly, undeniably a Shir Khan favourite. When those string-led bridge sections burst into life you should see the whole terrace unite under some Vitamin D-laced pleasure. "Other Day" packs a bit more umph with tough boogie licks looped and chopped for more funky dancefloor goodness. Bas Roos takes over the flip and is a newbie youngster from Rotterdam with a fresh residency at Toffler Club keeping things bright, smooth and wide-eyed with "Searchin" and "Don’t Let Go The Disco". Both tracks epitomizing the feel-good spirit of classic funky house whilst still keeping the modern day nu-disco crowd happy. Shir Khan rides forth! Vinyl only, limited run. Move quick!

A word from Jesse Rose:
“It’s been an amazing rollercoaster of a ride with Play It Down and when asked why I would stop releasing in its current incarnation the answer was obvious. I’ve always been very involved in the A&R process of all the releases. I’ve always felt confident to tell an artist if something should be taken out or added because I have spent (near enough) every weekend for the last two decades in a club, listening and playing House music. I would test the demos in my sets and know automatically what felt right and what felt wrong. If I’m not playing in clubs it wouldn’t feel right for me to tell someone who is playing shows every weekend how their record should sound. And ultimately, Play It Down for me has been about finding music I've wanted to play in my sets. So for the minute it’s a massive thank you to all the artists, fellow DJs, supporters, club-goers,
distributors, journalists, radio presenters, interns, promoters, bootleggers, and to Laura (who has worked day-in & day-out overseeing near every part of the label for the past five years) for letting us come up with dreams that all of you have helped make a reality.
This Play It Down 100 compilation album of original tracks brings back all the current roster to collaborate and a few tracks written solo by some of our key artists. It was a very enjoyable process to see what they would all come back with.”

Another great year is almost over, but we have got one of the hottest releases of 2019 as our way of saying goodbye.

After the success of the amazing 'Hold On' album by Sebb Junior, we've got a killer remix pack from the album to round the year off in style. We are delighted to the grandmaster Art of Tones back on the label with his supreme remix of 'Come Back', featuring our beloved Eider. Ludo delivers the quality vibes like always with an awesome track that is reminiscent of early 80s disco. 

The second part of the 'Hold On' remix pack is a reinterpretation of 'Piece Of Me' by Jarrad Gallo. As a Bay Area Native of San Jose, this DJ / producer is no stranger to the San Francisco house music scene. Jarred brings all these influences to his remix, giving us a track that is authentically deep but at the same uniquely contemporary.
