This is a version of Cooley's Reel, a traditional Irish Tune I played on Classical guitar.  For the entire piece I used only one guitar and one microphone to create all sounds, beats, etc. This is an idea that has been floating around my head for a while. Hope you like it.

Jose Padilla knows a great record when he hears one, so does Chris Coco. During the making of this album Jose was the first to start playing a couple of the early productions in his DJ sets and Chris snapped up the track "Baltimore" for volume 1 of the highly acclaimed "Balearic" series which curates fresh and inspiring music with a balearic edge and has now also released a single from Micko's other project The Madrigal earlier this year. Pete Gooding then picked "Meadows" for last year’s Cafe Mambo release. Here is the album, full of beautifully crafted songs and instrumentals.

Now I know why, for me they resonate far more with present day issues and how people feel about life then they did back in the "noughties". Both tracks were co written with Matt Black and Jonathan More from Coldcut and Holly Chand. I also made a cover of "The World is a Ghetto" by War who I met at a gig in Los Angeles and by far one of the best bands I have ever seen live.

Into The Heat is the next instalment of modern balearic musical enquiry by the legendary producer Afterlife, and oozes the kind of liquid-funk that proves almost too hot to handle. Sunshine is sprinkled rigorously across the rhythms compelling the breeze of intention to explode over the anticipation of summer madness, as carefree yet carefully choreographed drums pulse and the deft touch of keyboards shine brilliantly. 

The first of two remixes by esteemed producer DJ Rocca then retouch Si Si Si, initially appearing on last year’s brilliant Naif EP. Chopping out lines of 1980’s inspired grooves taut basslines dance around the pulse of handclaps complimenting that decades defining keyboard sound, offset by stuttering vocal edits on his Erodiscomixx.

Wanderlust, eerily created 6 months before the lockdown, dives into the expanse of deeper waters setting sail for the heart of the soul. Emotive pianos spell out loose direction as the complimenting shift of timely pads expose the terrain to scrutiny. Driven by the elastic electronic beats this sees the effortless shift between gears which only Afterlife captures so readily, completing the emotional roller-coaster of life: lived and loved. 

Jolly Up, then suggests an antidote via its chiming infusion of African repetition tastefully sequencing powerfully addictive melodies. Feeling free of worldly constrictions the music is at one with the positive flow of information leaving the haunting breath of a bass clarinet to offer resolve at the end. Accompanied by the worldly-wise chug of drums and bass satisfaction is always guaranteed.

And finally the second remix of Si Si Si sees DJ Rocca conjure up the stunning Dark Arts Mix. Extending blissful, probing keys out across the edges of synthesized sound the whisper of voices question what remains of the past while notes are reimagined, then reignited.
