It only took just under four years to complete, but the collaboration between D&B’s wordsmith Sense MC and London based record label Different Music is finally completed. #BuyTheAlbum has been the hashtag for the last three years, via random outbursts on the GiraffeCast, and since then Sense MC has collaborated with a whole load of label crew and producers from his past throughout the scene. This 10 track sonic journey, containing a hidden secret or three is entitled “The Elephant In The Room” and is not only a Drum & Bass album but fuses influences from Hip-Hop, Soul, Broadway, Jungle and pretty much everything in between.

Inja’s back with partner-in-crime Pete Cannon on ‘War Games’. A funky bassline lays the foundations for this fear-fighting tale. As the breaks roll out Inja’s militant and deep rhetoric puts this track on a new level, with signature percussive flair from the sought after hip-hop beatmaker.

Inja’s spoken-word piece for Amnesty International ‘She Just Wanna Dance’ was a viral online hit in 2017. It’s now been given a turbo-charged re-work by Med School young-gun Whiney. Inja’s poignant commentary on the prolific problem of harassment in club culture sits atop a grimey half-time stepper that switches up into a lethal upfront roller.

Inja proves he can ‘juk’ any riddim in ‘Samurai’. Serum’s steppy beat and woofing bassline balances Inja’s story of the samurai; slicing through the tune like the lyrical sensei he is.

Premiere: Bou 'Fox Trot' [Critical Music]

Following hot on the heels of 2018’s ‘Influence’ album, Dope Ammo invites some of his close friends to paint a fresh coat of bass on the first selection of remixes. These updates come from some big names too with the initial batch presented by Ed Solo, Benny Page, Kleu and none other than the man himself.

‘Babylon Falling’ featuring Taiwan MC was always full of summertime vibes and fresh for 2019, Ed Solo takes that feel good factor and ramps up the dial to 11. A perfect example of how to add trademark techniques without complicating the original direction.

Kleu brings forth a re-edit of ‘Old Times’ featuring the vocal talents of Martin Carr and this time around, a slab of sinister bass notes that totally mix the feel of the original into something completely different. It works and it’s certainly going to take you by surprise!

Original bad man Benny Page takes control of ‘Saturday’ in the only style and fashion you would expect from this veteran producer. Sticking with the theme of commercial but credible, this one is certainly aimed at both radio airplay and ram jammed underground dancefloors alike. Lighters at the ready..

Dope Ammo finishes off the first batch of the remixes with ‘Repent’. Whilst the original was stripped back to 120bpm, this one certainly takes it up a notch by going through the grand old time stretching box of tricks a few times. An impressive take on what was something a bit different from 2018 album. Infectious vocals and hard bassline lead. No worries inna dance here!
