Solune is as sharp and dramatic as its predecessor, taking on a slightly more filmic feel in the intro, with some neat old skool snatches in the build, mellowed with some rolling synths. The lead-in has a housey edge, before the drop reveals some off-kilter madness. Things soon get back on the roll, and the beat is in pure headnodding territory. The track works on a number of levels, but if you take a step back, all the inner genius will be revealed. This is deep, very deep.

This is the result of a tight collaboration between a Senegalese association of hip-hop groups (Africulturban) and the Node crew; an expedition crossed the route from Rome to Dakar to record and document the collaboration that gave birth to this album. Metrics and rhymes of the component-groups of Africulturban, between which:  War-j, Baat sen Funè, I-science, Matador and el Chè, were recorded on tracks made by heavy-weight beat makers such as Maztek, Atomic Tags and SoundWillKillMe. The dialog within each song focuses on the concept of boundaries and the will to overcome them, clashing against cultural structures and imi/emigration rules. The project was completed thanks to big time european and  italian MC's like Cuba Kabbal, Miss Fritty, Mc Donskey and a duo called Empatia Venefica.

Node Fest is an itinerant festival focused on electric and digital arts, since 2008 it's continuous evolution guided itself through many independent and underground situations in Italy and abroad (Milan, Bologna, Rome, Salerno, Benevento, Paris, Berlin, Istanbul, Dakar).  Dozens of expositions, Dj sets, Live sets, Vjs, multimedia installations and performances, all in one collective show case with a mission: To  highlight art in all it's shapes and sizes and to show how these art forms can critically question social and cultural barriers.

Per questa produzione musicale, frutto di una collaborazione nata tra un associazione di gruppi hip-hop Senegalesi (Africulturban) ed il Node crew, è stato costituito una spedizione indipendente sulla rotta Roma - Dakar.  Sulle le tracce di beat makers Italiani della taglia di Maztek, Atomic Tags e SoundWillKillMe sono state registrate le metriche dei vari gruppi di mc's che compongono Africulturban tra i quali War-j, Baat sen Funè, I-science, Matador ed el Chè . Il dialogo musicale è incentrato sul confine e l'idea di oltrepassarlo, scontrandosi con lo schema culturale e le regole politiche di imi/emigrazione.  Il progetto è stato completato grazie alla collaborazione di molti Mc's Italiani ed europei di spicco come Cuba Kabbal, Miss Fritty, Mc Donskey ed un duo chiamato Empatia Venefica.

Il NODE FEST è un festival elettronico-digitale itinerante in continua evoluzione, che dal 2008 ha attraversato molteplici esperienze e realtà di autogestione metropolitana in Italia e all’ estero (Milano, Bologna, Roma, Salerno, Benevento, Parigi, Berlino, Istanbul, Dakar). Decine di esposizioni, di DJs, di live-sets, di VJs, di installazioni multimediali e di performances, in una grande vetrina collettiva che ha lo scopo di dare voce all’arte in tutte le sue forme, contro ogni barriera sociale, culturale e di confine.

Questo pezzo parla della connessione tra gli artisti del node e di africulturban, gli artisti evocano l'amore che hanno per questa musica , esaltano il progetto Roma-Dakar e dimostrano in questa canzone che la musica non ha frontiere e che, sia per gli Italiani che per i Senegalesi , la lotta per il rispetto di questo concetto è lo stesso.  Hanno anche ricordato il benvenuto agli artisti Italiani  per sottolineare l'ospitalità senegalese ovvia a chiunque sia stato ospitato in Senegal. Quindi siamo fratelli e tramite questo progetto abbiamo sorvolato la frontiera nel suo concetto stesso.

Questo pezzo parla dei problemi del' e-i Migrazione da varie sfaccettature: il problema della libera mobilità (che noi non abbiamo) delle persone tra europa e africa e da una altra parte dall'Italia al Senegal. Sebbene Noi Italiani possiamo "tranquillamente" venire in Senegal questo non è assolutamente il caso per i senegalesi che vogliono venire in Italia.  Gli artisti difendono una libertà totale di mobilità di tutte le persone che lo desiderino e domandano a chiunque ne abbia l'autorità di spaccare le frontiere.   Nella stessa canzone gli artisti raccontano di compagni loro senegalesi partiti ,  alcuni dei quali sono nei problemi , che non danno più notizie alla loro famiglia , che sono magari morti o imprigionati o che semplicemente non riescono a guadagnarsi la vita e si vergognano di rientrare in Senegal.

Che sia in Italia o in Senegal il bisogno che le frontiere siano abbattute una volta per tutte, è lo stesso, così da far passare i contrabbandieri d'idee e di progetti.  che in un verso viaggiano coi camion attraverso il deserto e nell'altro nei barconi fino a barcellona.  Richiama una mobilitazione generale sulla mobilità stessa per tutte le persone del mondo e di ciò che hanno a cuore.

Il tasso di disoccupazione sale giorno per giorno e gli stati africani non riescono a risolvere i problemi d'inserzione dei giovani, i quali fanno moti sacrifici nella ricerca "dell' el dorado" che spesso si volge in dramma (la barca che affonda)  : emigranti imprigionati o morti nel corso del cammino o che non trovano lavoro o che si ritrovano in situazioni che si spinge a fare dei lavori sporchi nel disonore della propria famiglia che contano molto su di loro.

I due giovani artisti senegalesi s'esprimono su questa canzone per dimostrare il ruolo che la scena HipHop Senegalese gioca nel risveglio delle masse , della promozione della democrazia e dello sviluppo e fustiga coloro che ofuscano l'immagine dell' Hip Hop ponendo come unico esempio un rap che parla di Gangster , sesso e alcool. A causa di questo genere di artisti, i detrattori di questo movimento  (---Hip Hop---) automaticamente lo classificano e lo diffamano a prescindere come una farsa!!!!!! di conseguenza come una cultura sporca e gli Mc's stessi dei buoni a nulla.

La vita è dura ma non bisogna ne fuggire ne abbaser le braccia.  I giovani devono organizzarsi ed impegnarsi a fondo senza dimenticare di onorare i loro genitori per ciò che han dato in questa vita.   In Africa far fronte a questa situazione non è ovvio con le poche opportunità a disposizione , ma ci sono sempre delle soluzioni , bisogna incominciare in tempo e nella giusta via.  La via è una lotta e bisogna destreggiarsi.

Il pezzo spiega la difficoltà nella vita quotidiana degli artisti HipHop al livello familiare, della strada e nei media quando si percorre la via dell'underground.  Si perdono molti amici che lasciano la via nel percorso. La via è lunga e seminata di imboscate e si è spesso troppo soli per raggiungerne la fine. L'underground è la fase più dura per ogni artista facendo faccia alla rude concorrenza , la mancanza di 'coaching' e di motivi d'incoraggiamento..  questi artisti hanno solo un arma : la Fede.
