Following up his recent EP, Oddkin, on Human Pitch, Mexico City based producer and visual artist Tristan Arp delivers a diverse and imaginative 4 tracker on Eternal Ocean. ‘Alternate Looking Glass’ the first track and namesake of the project opens up with a flurry of tuned percussion and celestial voices, playfully oscillating between the club focused rhythms and a sensibility akin to the works of Philip Glass and Midori Takeda. “Curved Space’ takes a similar approach but this time creating a mysterious and obscure world created through a masterful use of foley recordings and polyrhythmic structures that create a sense of the tempo being pushed and pulled at the same time. The album closes with 'Air Portrait’ and ‘Probability Horizon’, two ambient sound sculptures that speak to Tristan’s affinity for design and visual space with their intricate melodies and textures playing off one another as they glide across the soundfield, exploring a new space in this young artist’s highly developed palette.

A unique release with four tracks, each by a different 030303 member from the first hour. B?hm kicks off with Tranquility, a moody and atmospheric acid electro track; hard hitting snares, 303 bubbles and and a dark cloud of gloomy drone. Freek Fabricius' track Druk op een Knop is part built up by samples taken from an obscure gaming device for small children. The result is a bizarre and spooky track, loosely held together by a messy Roland melody. Geel Acidvarken's excellent contribution is one to listen to again and again and reminds a little of Plastikman's Consumed project; lots of dreamy reverb effects on the warm bleeps with persistent snares and rattling rim shots added to the spaciness. Piepiep's System 100 is a brilliant funky beast, hectic and crystal clear at once with lots happening yet a dedicated focus on the floor. A very strong 12'' and a big tip!

Detroit's Filthiest and Go Nuclear are back sharing wax on Bass Agenda Recordings. The heat from their first split release on the label in 2017 is still radiating around the world, with tracks from both artists still getting support from the likes of DJ Stingray and leaving a trail of Electro destruction over the last 24 months thanks to Dave Clarke, Helena Hauff, UMEK, and many more out on the front-line spreading the word.

Detroit's Filthiest really should need no introduction at this stage in the game; one of Ghetto Tech's originators, a prolific artist with countless releases behind him spanning genres and, most interestingly, blending genre influences in ways that show vision and creativity on a level that is rare these days. This adventurous approach is always harnessed to the main mission though - getting people moving. This is dance floor Electro, laced with darkness and meant for those dark places true headz go to escape life's bullshit.

New Zealand's Go Nuclear came out all guns blazing with their debut on Bass Agenda Recordings in 2017 and their sound has developed at a pace to be reckoned with, turning heads in the Electro scene and quickly establishing themselves as one of the freshest acts out there. Similar in some ways to Detroit's Filthiest, you can trace each track back to the roots of the authentic Electro genre, but this is next is gen stuff - Electro evolved. Of course both artists could release each of these EPs separately, but this is more than just releasing music, it's also long term friends working together, critiquing each other's work, pushing each other to build a record that, like 2017's Descent Into Darkness/Machine Learning split release, finds a long term home in any discerning Electro DJ's bag.

Liverpool-based producer and disc-jock All Trades is a name to get familiar with. 

One part of the @alteredvoltage team responsible for bringing artists such as Detroit In Effect and Locked Club over to our fair isle, he's more recently stepped foot into the production game. Having been busy plugging away in the studio, his first release dropped on @shubzin earlier this month, exploring the distorted, industrious electronics characteristic of his sets. Brace yourself for this juiced up soundtrack from the @melodic-distraction resident.
