‘Back to the Beast’ is the debut release from ZILLAS on ACID, aka Thomas Roland and James Weissinger of Philadelphia’s Broadzilla  DJs and Making Time parties. Having recently remixed A Pleasure for Nicolas Jaar’s OTHER PEOPLE label, they now offer up this acidic original, a subtle hunk of techno thunk whose chest cavity opens to reveal a ruttering buzzsaw. Don’t search for meaning: it’s like bobbing for apples in a damn jacuzzi. Look for the full 12” on 100 Years of Solid Dudes in spring 2016.

Mugwump keeps on joining the dots between daring dancecuts and live post-punk/disco/indierock with the Metempsycho EP, which serves as a vehicle and playground for the new formation, showcasing re-arrangements of 2 existing album songs ("Breakdown" & "Memento lies") and the new single, « At the Front ». Sung by Geoffroy Mugwump, "At The Front" is an eerie piece of post-punk indie pop, coming with a 10 minutes- long haunted dub version. The song signals an exciting direction for Mugwump’s second album, currently in the works and penned for 2017. Headman returns once again on his own Relish Recordings label with a superb new EP featuring new track ‘Turning’ and a near perfect package of remixes from Emperor Machine, Richard Fearless, Scott Fraser & Murphy Jax…

Robi Insinna has been at the heart of the early electro-disco moment for the last decade. His recordings for Gomma, Output and then his own Relish Recordings label have been hugely influential, inspiring the next generation of producers,
whilst his name has been a ‘go-to’ for quality remixes, gracing the releases of artists such as Franz Ferdinand, The Gossip, Roxy Music & The Units. Whilst his work as Headman and Manhead has been a constant for quality in this everchanging
world, his label Relish has also become a beacon for the best in electronic music. Recent singles from Headman & Daniel Avery have received critical acclaim and passionate support and the labels Relish 3 compilation last year gave a taste of what is to come.

The latest single from Headman sees Insinna offer up the wonderful ‘Turning’, an 80’s tinged machine-funk vocal outing that comes on like a modern love child of Human League, New Order and Grace Jones. Robi’s tight yet rich production
shines through on both the dub version and the original which features vocalist Tara, who previously appeared on the awesome ’It Rough’.

The originals of ‘Turning’ are complimented by two remixes, the first comes from production hero Emperor Machine AKA Andy Meecham, one half of the hugely influential Chicken Lips who back in 2003 remixed ‘It Rough’ turning it into an
underground hit. Meecham’s mix is the kind of epic, extended masterpiece that we have come to expect from a producer of his calibre, it draws you in, twists you up in it’s funk and has you shaking for the full nine minutes to it’s conclusion. The
second mix comes from Scott Fraser, a producer who shares studio space with Andrew Weatherall and has recently released on Astrolab France and World Unknown, here he delivers a pulsing, Moroder-esque reworking that is a heads down, disco delight.

Added to the package we have two remixes of ‘Be Loved’, Headman’s last single. The first comes from none other than Richard Fearless/Death in Vegas, who is very much hot property after the release of his incredible 2011 album ‘Trans-
Love Energies’, here he turns in a truly storming mix that segues from a distorted leftfield intro into an acid house classic, wonderful in every way! The second mix and the final piece in the puzzle is supplied by the ever brilliant Murphy Jax who
takes ‘Be Loved’ and works it into a warm, percussive house workout that marries pads, big piano chords and rich bass to create a simply blissful mix.

Since Relish released Italian E.P. and Italian E.P. remixed in 2004 the focus on Italian new producers was always strong. Especially the ones that continued in the line of pioneers like Moroder, Baldelli and Alexander Robotnick. Fabrizio amongst fellow Italian producers like Francisco and Marco Passarani started re-pushing a nearly forgotten  sound, developing Italy’s great club tradition. Clubs between the 70s and 80s that were awakened in Italy, which in the 90s turned the Riviera Romagnola into Clubbing paradise.

Fabrizio works as a solo artist and sometimes joins forces with his partner in crime Philipp Lauer in their project Black Spuma. Together with Franz Scala he runs a record label Slow Motion which just recently gave birth to its sub label Wrong Era and before all else he is a DJ.

Expect some dancefloor fire from Fabrizio in the next coming months.

Romantic Fiction - the debut LP from Curses - is an honest musical expression drawing inﬂuences from his youth growing up in NYC in the 80s. References to new wave, post-punk, synth music and early EBM are skillfully merged with the DIY approach of punk and rock n roll angst. Brandishing an immersive sonic palette, all instruments throughout the album were played and recorded by the artist.
Exhausted by the current state of competitive dance music monotony, Romantic Fiction is a collection of songs, not DJ tools: songs that work at home, but also in the club should the right crowd beckon.
It’s about escapism and ﬁnding comfort in the unknown, fulﬁlling the empty void by embracing the mysterious. Darkness is a light undiscovered, not something to be frightened of.
Curses also invites friends who share a mutual love for incorporating post punk and new wave into contemporary electronic music. Perel delivers mighty Nina Hagen-esque operatic punk vocals on the ﬁrst single, 'Gold & Silber', whilst Dischi Autunno label boss Jennifer Cardini and Curses share a duet on the cold wave silk of 'Silence In The Dark'.
As an amalgamation of inﬂuences from multiple decades, Romantic Fiction is a deeply personal album, triggering a feeling that is unnerving at times, familiar and welcoming at others.

Nuno Dos Santos’ Something Happening Somewhere shares its first release of 2019, as the label welcomes the recently unknown entity Joannes to the family. A powerful drum machine driven bundle that provides the soundtrack for this personal journey from Joannes, including remixes by Nadia Struiwigh and Melatonin Man.

Our weapon of choice comes courtesy of Melatonin Man aka Tammo Hesselink. As a resident of De School and Nous’Klaer Audio, Melatonin Man takes on the EP’s title track and strips Joannes’ effort into a down-tempo electro affair with chugging rhythms and tribal accents.

‘Escape From Kyoto’ opens the release, incorporating worldly percussion, a staggering arpeggiated bass hook and trippy lo-fi sonic tones creating a raw energetic movement. Subtle filter-modulation on the atmospheric elements make for a vacillating flow throughout the composition, while 80’s style synthesizers are worked in to the break giving off an effortlessly cool retro vibe. The vintage feel is further brought to fruition by working back in the rugged arp-line in combination with a vocoded spoken-word, further fuelling the old school aesthetic.

Rodion & Mammarella - Escape from Kyoto

On their second release of the year, La Dame Noir welcome Tel Aviv's finest: Eliezer. 

The EP opens with Bauhaus, an indie anthem led by a mad vocal from prolific maestro, Curses. A hit in the making that bears the hallmarks of cold wave.

Two clubs-ready originals follow: "White Snow" and "Post Love" are full of overdriven guitars, chugging dancefloor-driven grooves, understated female vocals, and indie-indebted melodies. 

The 6 tracker ends with 3 strongs remixes straight out of Tel Aviv with Middle Sky Boom, Niv Ast and Uriah. The Israeli electronic scene has been on fire for more than a minute now and La Dame Noir is delighted to continue pushing that sound and scene forward.

Gunce Aci is a DJ and Producer hailing from Istanbul. She is also a part of the SaveAS Music Management team and music/booking director of Achprojektevent series.

Since 2014 she has been frequently spinning at many of the top clubs and venues in Istanbul such as Studio, Suma Beach, Gizli Bahce, Kloster, MAMA and more.

She is inspired by Indie Dance, Nu Disco, New wave, Letfield and Idm.
The soundscape she had created through her ‘Dreamers vs Believers’ EP on Esthetique is shaped by dark-mysterious pads, sturdy basslines and captivating melodies.

As usual the label brings in some high quality remixes in the shape of Up Pa Gaz, long time Sinchi friend Leonor and Tulioxi. The latter delivering a fantastic rework of the title track.

Alexander Pletnev started an entirely new journey under his own name two years ago. Release after release on forward thinking and respected labels like Media Fury, KUMP, Fleeting Wax, SZE and Hard Fist, he has built a solid discography of incredible diversity - from percussive DJ tools to viscous synthetic EBM to dreamy weirdness.
His latest EP titled "Voranto Bros" is a long awaited return to Le Temps Perdu and the prime example of refined musical storytelling. Title track is a cinematic tale, a sound novel about two migrant brothers hitting the shores of USA in the dawn of XXth century to became vicious gangsters, broken souls ruling the night of NYC. Dusty tape hiss, off kilter percussions and melodies all alternate to later sink under the weight of heavy drums. While Hope They Wont Come Back is a severe instrumental ballad with low drums, talking bass lines and noisy guitar riffs - five minutes inside confused man's mind.
On a remix front, Cocktail D'Amore's head honchos Discodromo strip Voranto Bros down to bear bones to deliver EBM style dance floor burner. And Harold Boué aka Abstraxion aka Lion's Drums of Biologic Records fame delivers menacing remix for Hope They Won't Come Back, a dark & mystic journey, which unwinds slowly and builds up to unexpected climax.

Everything here is a live take with a Moog, a Juno 106 and the original stems. No editing or mixing. It took roughly three hours to get there.
