Released on August 10th via Viper Recordings comes the second single from The Prototypes hotly anticipated debut LP, ‘City of Gold'.

Fully embracing a summer sound with the A-side ‘Don’t Let Me Go’, the production and DJ duo smoothly combine old school style piano chords, signature energized drums and the pulse-racing vocals of Amy Pearson. Already receiving nationwide radio support, the single package also includes a sultry house remix from the talented Jade Blue and an electro-fuelled "Big Top" dancefloor rework by The Prototypes themselves.

The B-side stays true to The Prototypes heavy hitting, galactic-inspired sound, with the whirring ‘Humanoid’. Exciting and rhythmical use of synth patterns alongside vocal interjections make this the ideal follow up to the hugely popular 'Pale Blue Dot'.

The Prototypes have worked their magic again with this release, combining the euphoric house elements of 'Don’t Let Me Go' with their trademark pumping bass lines and weighty drops in 'Humanoid'. It’s another great prelude to the arrival of their album and will feature heavily on dancefloors across the globe this summer.

No event celebrates dance music’s excess and success like the Miami Winter Music Conference. Having outgrown its four-day flesh-pressed networking roots, the last two weeks of March sees the Florida hotspot don the crown as Party Central. A mainstay at the annual sun-soaked session since their first outing to the US east coast in 1998, Ram Records know the Miami experience intimately. Back then Miami was a different beast; the sole preserve of house and trance, drum & bass had to shout loudly to grab the dancers. These days Miami welcomes all shades of bass music, and D&B is the hottest ticket in both South Beach and Downtown.

Reflecting the changing attitude of the WMC and the wider world of electronic music, Ram Records have curated a compilation of their biggest Miami moments. Spanning from as early as 1999 and rolling right through to the future, each of these cuts have proved to be a bona fide banger in both peaktime sunshine and primetime nightlife.

‘Take You Higher’… it’s a promise all DJs make each and every time they set foot behind the decks. No matter what genre, style or flavour, the dark art of elevation is THE core premise of all electronic music. It’s the holy grail of dancefloor science… And Wilkinson has been studying it for years.

Living up to his promise, ‘Take You Higher’ is an instant turbo boost for all corners of the dance. Igniting with a half step so emotive you can imagine a boxer walking down to the ring to its hype-fuelled strut, we’re soon dropped into a climactic synth hook, quintessential rave vocal and surging well-bodied power-bass. 

So sharp it can shave a man from fifty paces, so euphoric it can instigate a spine-tingle from fifty miles, ‘Take You Higher’ is soaked in undiluted drama that’s specifically designed to drive your crowd well beyond the all-important ‘next level’.  

Always keen to paint a full picture across his releases, Wilkinson’s also served up ‘Crunch’. A darker, more driving slab of drum & bass, ‘Crunch’ thrusts with a sneering, searing bassline and just the perfect amount of synth-aided uplift. Armed with one of the most electric build ups he’s done to date, it’s yet another example of Wilkinson’s ability to take the dancefloor to places so high they didn’t even know they existed. 

Both ‘Take You Higher’ and ‘Crunch’ act as a promising tease for Wilkinson’s forthcoming debut album. Due for release later this year, it’s set to showcase the rich vein of form the young producer is hitting at the moment. And there’s more…  

Proof, if it’s needed, that the art of taking you higher is essential in all genres, Ram Records have complemented Wilkinson’s breath-taking original with two spectacular remixes. First up, the fast-rising future bass merchant Jakwob:  fusing the finest aspects of garage and underground house, he’s dropped the tempo but paid maximum respect to the theatrical character of the original. With a crisp array of infectious percussive elements and the perfect dosage of minor-key sobriety, it’s fuelled by so much emotion it might just take you too high! 

Next up: Foamo. With a repertoire that includes on-point house labels such as Moda and Skint, he’s been fuelling generation bass with unpredictable slices of dancefloor dynamite since 2008. Lounging in low-end luxury, his debut remix for Ram Records pays homage to years of London house heritage; shuffling with a gorgeous chugging groove and a slight nod to the deeper shades of speed garage movement, like the original, this will sing to many different DJs… Each one of them looking to live up to their promise: taking you higher!
