Vault Series founder Subjected releases his sophomore album entitled ‘Mother’ on his Subjected Systems label, featuring ten ambient, leftfield and techno cuts this March.

An essential figure within Berlin’s techno scene, Subjected has released on ARTS, the enigmatic STOOR and his very own Vault Series. Subjected Systems is a newer project which has so far hosted two releases, one from Transient X4 and another collaborative effort between Subjected and Andrejko. The label showcases a post-industrial era, that keeps ties to the underground scene that gave birth to it but signals its occupation of a different realm than its predecessor.

Subjected now returns with his second album for the label’s third release. Entitled ‘Mother’, the longplayer came to fruition after Subjected became a father himself – inspired by processing the changes that were not only happening around him, but to his partner and a new life.

It’s that time of the year again. Another SUM package is here and, as always, spans a vast expanse of artists from newcomers to heavy hitters who provide sounds from dark, hard edged cuts to grooving euphoric treks.

With hi octane numbers like VNTM & Tahko’s ‘Rave Culture’ and Risa Taniguchi’s ‘Ridiculous’ the compilation takes off before the maestro Nick Curly’s ‘Refuge’ and JNO’s ‘Relief’, who just released his first EP on Second State, take matters into deeper, low slung territory. Industrialyzer’s ‘Pulse’ certainly picks up the pace again as Ilija Djokovic’s ‘Chimera’ and Frazier’s ‘Escapism’ blend the lines between post modern production techniques and classic rave sounds. Turning into the back half of the compilation we have the wicked vibes of Flug’s ‘Maschine’ and Fabio Florido’s ‘Upsurge’ pave the way for newcomers Emanate’s mesmerizing ‘Again & Again’. Wrapping up the twelve tracker are ‘Wiggle’, a wild track of the winner of this year’s Beats in School competition by Beatport and Second State, and the label’s mainstay BEC’s instant hit ‘Three Words’, resulting in a finely curated package that will deliver in any moment.

Intimate Silence return this August with an album from Vault Series founder Subjected presenting his Pictures From The Aftermath project, and featuring eight ambient cuts entitled ‘Opera Scenes’.

Subjected has been an important figure within Berlin’s techno community in the last ten years with his Vault Series and Subjected System imprints playing host to some of the genres most exciting names. His recent releases on ARTS, Stoor, Vault Series and self-titled label showcases his vast exploration into the realms of ambient soundscapes and atmospheric techno with a hint of post-industrial influence. ‘Opera Scenes’ sees Subjected serve up his third LP to date joining Silent-One’s Intimate Silence label following the likes of Głós, Thomas Hessler, KAS:ST, PVNV, Dold and Pär Grindvik.

For our premiere today, tantalising harmonics fuse delicately with undulating emotiveness and revolving flutters and pulses in "The Origin of Life."

Biography
A young man, faceless in the pallid light, entirely
gripped by these machines, source of this brutal
black noise. Dark, thundering bass drums,
distorted soundscapes and grooves start to
emerge. He lives for the machines. The machines
live for him. This is Subjected, an amalgam of
darkness, distortion and aggression.

Anonymity as a function, mystical without usual
clichés. No hiding behind masks, no digging in the
past, no techno purism, no strive for fame -
SUBJECTED stands for distinctly deep, identifiable
techno. Designed in the shadows, to be
consumed in the darkness. A label. Music, and
nothing more.

Born in Hoyerswerda in 1983, and brought up in
the tristesse of Berlin-Hellersdorf, he was strongly
socialised by the lower class suburb with its grey,
oppressive tower blocks. The first musical
attempts he made were in Hip hop and rap, but it
wasn't long until he started to be aware of all the
progress happening in Berlin in the mid 90's, and
got infected by the early club nights in legendary
E-werk and Tresor as well as mixtapes from local
radio stations. All of this shaped him towards his
own musical reinvention. Techno as a possibility
of identification, allowed him to find himself. It's
the monotony, the uniqueness of the synthetic
sound, that enabled Subjected to express himself
– starting as a DJ, since 2006 also acting as a
producer. This resulted in various projects and the
launch of Vault Series in 2010. Ever since their
first major successes, Vault Series are a
guarantee for dancefloor-oriented tracks, with
highly distinctive concepts and structures of
sound.

Wrong Treatment

I wrote this collection of songs, when my grandma Anneliese fell asleep forever. 
It contains 5 tracks, which express my feelings in saying goodbye. 

Grandma died in the February 2021. 
She had a stroke, was brought to the hospital and then she was tested positive to Covid. Finally she recovered from it and came back to her nursing home. After a few days she lost her power and was too weak to live anymore. And then she said goodbye. 

RIP Grandma...
