Landscapes of dystopian worlds, both emotive and driving, unveil new forms of life here as Nightdrive’s “Miracles” LP travels through the far east regions of house and techno with this 10-track release. As this marks “Rough Cuts 02” for Too Rough 4 Radio, “Miracles” is as much a transcendent force of ethereal tunes as it is effective for any dancefloor. What you’ll uncover across this release from this St. Petersburg based producer is a traversing blend through IDM, Deep House, DnB, and Techno through the lens of lush, atmospheric soundscapes.

“Madcat” has all of the elements of an effective deep house track—piano chord flutterings, a grooving shuffled beat, and moody waves of melancholic transcendance. Nightdrive cultivates these elements into a uniquely powerful blend of Sound Signature aesthetics with dystopian sensibilities of both mystic and mesmerizing effects.

Houssam Hassib, is a civil engineer that lives and works in Paris, France that clearly loves making and playing what is commonly referred to as LoFi dance music. A guitar player since childhood and DJ since high school Sam like so many budding producers paused his passion for creating music in order to study and get a real job. Then came 2020. This EP aptly titled “VOILA” brings Sam's ideas to a wider audience than the space most commonly occupied by budding civil engineer/bedroom producers. Like many folk this year, Sam had to cancel a vacation on the beaches of Portugal and decided to make some music instead that he could throw on, close his eyes and float away envisioning faraway places. The result is four hypnotic chill lofi/deep house tracks with some heavy bass undercurrents and funky percussive elements that work in his own words as “a smooth journey in the space”. We’d tend to agree with this estimate. In a time of much nothingness, it’s pretty cool to see people producing something out of nothing. Voila!
