As avid supporters of the underground bass music scene in the Pacific Northwest, we would be terribly remiss to overlook the powerhouses that are Portland's Sublimate Records and Calgary's Noctilux Collective. These two outlets have not only been throwing amazing parties for years and nurturing their respective local scenes, but have consistently been releasing music from some of the most incredible up and coming producers in the world.

They're set to release a collaborative compilation entitled "Continuum" this week, and the 14 track offering certainly holds up to the impossibly high standard they've set for themselves. Complete with a flavorful sampling of local and international artists, the tracklist touches on everything from breaks to jungle to chunky hip hop beats and back again. Established legends like Greazus and Sinistarr share the release with lesser known but inimitable forces like Kid Kun, Samurai Breaks, Sublimate co-founder Sonis, and Toronto's Captivate, who brought us today's premiere, "Shimmer".

A dancefloor-ready 170 bpm smasher dripping with vibes, "Shimmer" will be just as appropriate at peak rave hours in the club as it will be during a quiet early morning drive. Its versatility is what drew us to the tune; it expresses somber restraint while also being fun and emotional at the same time. We've had our eyes on Captivate for some time now, especially after his big collaboration "Cashme" with Stranjah on Aufect Recordings last year, and we couldn't be more excited to premiere his track "Shimmer" from the Sublimate x Noctilux compilation today. The ‘Heartless Badboys’ saga continues; it’s the second volume of the Ep that follows in footsteps of the first one, with four tracks that cover a full spectrum of sounds and bpms ranging from dubstep to jungle, all 100% Numa Crew certified ammo.
The Ep starts off with a 140 dubstep track by Lapo; a melting pot of futuristic synth sounds and spacey atmospheres driven by dub drums, make ‘Automatic Soul’ the perfect track to start walking down the streets of Heartless Badboys.  
What follows is a mood change in track number two: Leon P & Ago bring dubstep back to the rave jungle era. ‘Juju’ is a mix of hardcore rave synths, hypnotic sounds and heavy breaks. Irie!  
T-Kay’s ‘Monarch’ changes up the tempo and guides us into the world of drum’n’bass with minimalist rolling drums, a punching snare and a ‘radar’ bass that spreads out like an alarm siren.  
Lurking in the darkest corners of the streets, XL Mad’s ’Death Valley’ suddenly jumps out to close the Ep, slowing down the tempo to a 128 bpm blend of ukg and afro riddim, raw grind bass combined with old skool jungle samples.
