Oh. My. Gosh. Critical come to conquer with this absolutely dangerous 4-tracker courtesy of Russia’s Enei; a name becoming more familiar by the day as one of the most talented and most exciting new school producers in the game. Snapped up by the ever on point label master Kasra, this EP only makes the prospect of the debut Enei album even more tantalizing.

The title track ‘Stone Head’ is a bulldozer of a tune that comes complete with the Andy C seal of approval. A stepper’s paradise with rich kicks and a body-slamming, rolling b-line that’ll send shockwaves through any club. Serious is an understatement! Next up Enei hooks up with vocalist Riya for a proper techy bounder ‘No Fear’ with its undulating bassline that bounces hard taking no prisoners as it moves. The wrecking-ball of the bunch. Moving on and the mood changes slightly to the more flowing sounds of ‘Movin’ Fast’; a naughty, gnarly slice of heavyweight D&amp;B with large feedback-infused bass and sick amen edits that keeps things lively. Wait for the breakdown and switch up though for the killer blow! Then finishing things off in fine style is the heavily hammered Jubei remix of Enei, Eastcolors &amp; Noel’s hit from earlier in the year ‘Cracker’. Keeping the seedy original vibe alive, Jubei goes in deep and comes out the other side with another tough slab of speaker freaker bass and beats. Awesome.



Enei - Stonehead EP

The core chord progression, bass line & melodic elements of this track came first and were fairly well established early on, however the drums changed countless times during this track’s evaluation. We really wanted hard-hitting drums with lots of energy but wanted to avoid the obvious. 

Scarp is a geological term which is slightly too technical to get into but it’s basically a specific type of erosion. After the intro when the beat drops on this it feels like everything is falling away to make way for something powerful.  The drums and some of the melodic phrases also have this ‘falling away’ effect.

Suspect is a young blood from the hometown of Drum & Bass in Spain, Seville.
He stepped into the world of DnB around 2013 with the likes of old school techstep as also actuall neurofunk ala Noisia, Black Sun Empire and State of Mind.
Since 2014 he is producing and said by itself: 
"The big ones from Blackout were the first ones to make me fall in love. 
So that's a sound I always inevitably have in my tunes... those minor melodies that give the music that soul."
3 years ago, he also started djing on underground raves and venues around Seville.
