Ancestral Origins, Vol. 01 by Catatonique

Alacrán del Amor is a name that has quickly become prominent in Mexico City's downtempo scene. We are more than happy that he is in charge of Ancestral Origins, Vol. 2.

This set is a true testament and showcase of his unique sound. We could describe it as a post-ancestral, latin tribal slow rave that feels heavy yet refined. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Alacrán del Amor is a Mexican musician and producer. He began his journey at a young age, listening to different genres and proposals from around the world. 
He has become an important member of the downtempo scene in Mexico City and with He has several releases on national and international labels, where he collaborates with multiple artists and producers from other countries. 
The origin of his sound is a fusion of Mexican pre-Hispanic music with electronic sounds and samples. He uses synthesizers and ancestral rhythms to take the night towards a ritual that seeks to unify the conscience and the soul to achieve an ancestral connection through music.

Ancestral Origins, Vol. 08 by DVNIEL (MX)

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well! I am very excited about my upcoming release, my first EP "Closer Minds." This project has been a great adventure, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to share it with all of you.
In this EP, I have explored a wide range of musical influences, from Downtempo with touches of Afro-Latin rhythms, to Techno and Trance. My goal has been to create a sound that is dynamic, exciting, and full of energy. Each of the three songs in this EP represents a different facet of my musical style, and I am excited to share that with all of you.
The first song, "Closer Minds," is an organic slow Techno track that describes how billions of neurons in our brain work together to generate a conscious experience.
The second song, "Artificial Dreams," is an organic slow Trance track with influences of psychedelic rock that talks about how our dreams have a hidden meaning that can serve us in the process of self-knowledge.
The third song, "Selfishness," is inspired by a speech by Alan Watts and talks about the importance of knowing oneself and contemplating death for a more creative and fulfilling life.
In summary, Closer Minds is an EP that represents my love for electronic music and my desire to create music that makes people feel excited and alive. I hope you enjoy listening to it.

Introducing "Derinkuyu" by the talented Turkish artist Kerem Genc. The track draws inspiration from the underground city believed to trace its roots back to around 3000 B.C in the region of Cappadocia. Notably, Derinkuyu stands out with its infrastructure, extending to the deepest parts of the ground and designed to accommodate nearly ten thousand inhabitants, boasting essential resources and maintaining a consistent temperature of 21 degrees across all seasons.

"Maelstrom II" is a collaboration between Catatonique and Fortu, lifelong friends whose journey in electronic music began during their high school years. Their first official collaboration took shape a decade ago, marking a significant milestone in their careers. This track, known as "Maelstrom," served as a pivotal moment in their artistic endeavors.  In "Maelstrom," the main character narrates a tale where "Loraline" never reaches a cabin where he awaits her. 

A decade later, they reunite in the studio to craft the sequel to this narrative, this time from "Loraline's" perspective. La Pamela voiced and brought this character to life.

Viaje Astral (Astral Journey) represents the closest sound experience to what I lived on November 16, 2016, in Tepoztlán, Mexico, during the night of the Super Moon, which opened like a portal for my soul to leave my body. I can't find words to describe the journey; it was literally the turning point of my life within an ascending toroid. That's why I created this tribute to share my experience. Within it, it's crucial to highlight three very important things that we still preserve on planet Earth: Nature, Children, and Music. These are the three things through which I felt that God, the giant white whale full of love (metaphorically), gave us a second chance to live, as lifeless planets fall into darkness, into oblivion. It's a great blessing and opportunity that we have as human beings to rescue what we are. In these times of war with ourselves, let's seek love. Because love is life.

Viaje Astral representa la experiencia más cercana en sonido a lo que viví el 16 de noviembre de 2016 en Tepoztlán, México, durante la noche de la Super Luna, la cual se abrió como un portal para que mi alma saliera de mi cuerpo. No encuentro palabras para describir el viaje; fue literalmente el giro de mi vida dentro de un toroide ascendente. Por eso he creado este homenaje para compartir mi experiencia. Dentro de él, cabe rescatar tres cosas muy importantes que aún conservamos en el planeta Tierra: la Naturaleza, los Niños y la Música. Estas son las tres cosas por las que sentí que Dios, esa gigante ballena blanca llena de amor (metafóricamente), nos brindó una segunda oportunidad de vivir, ya que los planetas sin vida caen en la oscuridad, en el olvido. Es una gran bendición y oportunidad que tenemos como seres humanos de rescatar lo que somos. En estos tiempos de guerra interna, busquemos el amor. Porque el amor es la vida.

It was hard for me to keep from crying and I was blinded by my own tears. So, it was only when the fragrance filled the air that I realized that the water I was boiling had leaves from the flowering trees in it.
