This spring ONAKOM released his debut EP, and now twelve ongoing and upcoming local artists reimagined his work. These remixes are collected to form an album on it's own, showcasing an interesting slice of the Hungarian electronic scene. The artists brought in their styles and methods spanning from downtempo to techno and everything in between, but the distinctive source material make this release a cohesive experience.

Subotage’s dj sets touch upon various styles from techno to many types of cutting edge genres. He was always interested to find new sounds on the boundary of psychedelic and techno music.

In the last decade he played in many clubs around the world and played at such festivals like Ozora in Hungary, Tribal Gathering in Panama or Adhana in Brasil.

He shared the stage with acts such as Moderat, Extrawelt, Ace Ventura, James Holden, Jon Hopkins, Moby, Apparat, John Talabot and Atmos.

His first ever digital release came out in 2011 followed by a string of remixes for groups like Zagar, Occam, Colorstar or Anima Sound System. Hitting stores in 2015, a remix prepared for the tv series Utopia was his first release in the UK. In 2015, he joined the theatre group Nylon Group, with whom he worked on the soundtrack of the piece titled Halotti Thor.

In 2016 and 2017 he was working on his own studio album under the alias Surfalone, and the album came out in the February of 2018 at the Hungarian label called Selected Sounds.

In the summer of 2018 he prepared a remix for Anima Sound System's legendary track called '68 and jumped back to the stage.
2019 was full of new experiences for him, with special gigs, like in Brazil at the magical Adhana Festival on NYE, or Ozora Festival’s Pumpui stage. This was, by his own admission, his most important in his life so far when he became one with the amazing and huge crowd.
2020 started with great adventures for him when he stuck on the festival called Tribal Gathering in Panama, captured by the local military.

Since then he has been working on new tracks in his studio that resulted an EP at the legendary psytechno label, Boshke Beats, coming out in March, 2022.

KŐVÁRI is the third chapter of the BRVTAL compilation series that sets memory of Hungarian architecture and brutalism with 14-track contributions by international and local artists.

György Kővári (1934-1982) is the most mysterious figure of the among Hungarian architects in the last 60 years, who built characteristic and well known buildings like Déli train station (1961-62, 1969), Balatonfüred train station (1967-72), Skála (1982) at Nyugati square or not long ago demolished Kőbánya-Kispest metro and train station (1980), just to mention a few. He never gave interviews, he did not talk much about his works in public, and his oeuvre was not even discussed yet. It looks like he only lived for planning buildings in his short life, so it's not a surprise after university he started working at MÁV Design Institute as an architect, later becoming its leader until his death. Furthermore he was chief architect of METROBER in the '70s, where he also worked on the development of transport hubs in Budapest.

We are glad that a lot of new and some returning artists join their forces on this diverse techno compilation with which we commemorate another and underrated iconic figure of the local brvtalism.

Eigengrau (German for "intrinsic gray"; pronounced [ˈʔaɪ̯gŋ̍ˌgʁaʊ̯]), also called Eigenlicht (Dutch and German for "intrinsic light"), dark light, or brain gray, is the uniform dark gray background color that many people report seeing in the absence of light. Common scientific terms for the phenomenon include "visual noise" or "background adaptation". These terms arise due to the perception of an ever-changing field of tiny black and white dots seen in the phenomenon.

Eigengrau is perceived as lighter than a black object in normal lighting conditions, because contrast is more important to the visual system than absolute brightness. For example, the night sky looks darker than Eigengrau because of the contrast provided by the stars.

This single is the flagship of @normaltamas' forthcoming EP, that will be released later this year. The original is a pure techno track with slight touches of distortion and dub mentality while the flip by @subotage is more orientated to the psychedelic area of the spectrum, using some tranceish weaponry.

The two artists have found their common musical language a year ago and this single release is their second joint production. The release stands as a pistol-shot to start their b2b tour in the following weekends around Hungary.

Year 2019 brought new stuff to me in many ways. I gained experiences that i will keep in my heart until the end of my life.

We started the new year with Nora Matisse in the Brazilian jungle at Adhana festival celebrating life with outstanding artists of the psychedelic scene from all around the world. It was thrilling to play on the Takatuka stage at Kolorado Festival, to hail to the first lights of dawn at Alkototabor, to spread the magic in the mountains of Pécs city, and to experience my most important night in my life so far at this year’s Ozora on Pumpui stage, where I had the fortune to spend 3 hours in a collective trance with thousands of amazing people right before the performance of Extrawelt/Midimilliz who will be always my heroes.

I felt humble and gratitude and it turned my attention into new ways of interest.

I have been always interested in both psychedelic and technoid sounds and I am amazed by the eclectic musical world that grew on the boundary of these genres as a special type of magic mushroom.

With this decade-closing and decade starting studio mix I would like to summarize the past and set out the way to the future at the same time. 

2020 is going to be an incredible year.

2019 nem várt módokon mutatott újat számomra, jó pár olyan élményt kaptam ajándékba a sorstól, melyet minden bizonnyal életem végéig élénken őrizni fogok a szívemben.

Nora Matisse-szal közösen a brazil hegyi dzsungelben indítottuk az újévet, ahol a psychedelic szcéna legnagyobbjai között ünnepeltük az életet. Hatalmas élmény volt a Takatuka helyszínen zenélni a Kolorádó Fesztiválon, esôt elállítani és napfekeltét köszönteni az Alkotótáborban,  sámánkodni a pécsi tettyei katlan bulikon, és átélni eddigi életem legfontosabb estéjét az idei Ozorán, a Pumpui stagen, ahol 3 órán keresztül, közös transzban nyitogattuk a dimenziokapukat tízezer csodâlatos emberrel, mindezt úgy, hogy példaképeim és barátaim ott készülôdtek mellettem a színpadon, hogy azután én is végighallgassam az Extrawelt és Midimiliz liveokat elôször ilyen környezetben. 

Alázatot és hálát éreztem, és az élmény hatására új dolgokra nyílt a szemem.

Amióta elektronikus zenével foglalkozom, mindigis egyszerre érdekelt a pszichedelikus és technoid zenék határán egyfajta mágikus gombaként létezô-alakuló eklektikus, behatárolhatatlan zenei világ. Ehhez a kiindulóponthoz visszatérve, azt továbbgondolva készítettem el ezt az évtizedzáró és nyitó stúdiómixet, mely összegzi az eddigieket és kijelöli a továbbhaldási irányt. 2020 nagy év lesz, elképesztô dolgok fognak történni szerintem.

I had been always thinking about what would happen if something went wrong at a psychedelic festival and the party was over - now I got the answer:

However, Panama authorities closed hundreds of people in quarantine, they didn’t serve nor food or drink to them.

It was the organisers of the festival who provided all of these even after the end of the official festival. Also, people started to become into volunteers to keep the site nice and clean as possible. 
People tried to stay positive, calm, they helped each other adopting to the given situation. 
Maybe this is the way how it should be done in the aggregate, too.

It has been obvious for long: we need to redefine our connection to the environment. But there are also several other things in which we can mature now. In this special situation everything is momentous and can have great effects. We are witnessing how the old world collapses and it can be painful. 
But it depends on us what will be the new world like.

Straight Outta Quarantine - Live @ Tribal Gathering 2020

This summer I had the chance to play music among the magical mountains of "Kali-Basin", one of the most beautiful regions of Hungary, at the northern side of Lake Balaton while the whole thing was live streamed and recorded with several cameras and drones. This is basically a live dj mix with some live stuff added with my Maschine MK3.
