Ecstatic Dance - 5 Rhythms - Portland

I present my ecstatic dance journey for our Samhain community gathering to reflect on a year past, envision the next to come and celebrate our ancestral lineages. Captured on the recording are my live vocals, didjeridoo and percussion.

In Samhain tradition we opened with a community feast and social time, followed by a facilitated ritual to harness the potency of this time of year. We then danced together as a community to celebrate, and finally grounded in the evening’s intentions with a potent sound bath.

Al Tiempo is the mystical, colourful & the first single/movie from La Forasteria's Cirugia al Alma EP. 

Recorded last summer during their "Europe Tour 2022" in Studios between Catalunya and Mallorca, the track is a fusion of Latino american roots percussive sounds with bluesy guitars, psychedelic/electronic layers, world music folklore and a hypnotic vocal melody by Toni Volpen and Tuto Petruzzi. "Al Tiempo" talks about the passing of time and suggests the idea that maybe, in some dimension, past, present and future is all happening at the same moment and time is only but a collective illusion. We invite you to join us in this mysterious and trippy track that works as an opening of a new original EP from La Forasteria that will go out on 31st March on Earthly Measures.

Such an honor to play this set for such a beautiful community of beings in ceremony and celebration to Saturn, Lord Shani, and all the teachings and wisdom we gain through these difficult yet divine energies - energies of fear, angst, loss, darkness, despair, depression, grief, and sweet sweet surrender. All the feels, hard as they may be, need to be felt for us to be free healthy and happy beings...and no better way I know than to work through the processing than by dancing.

"Heart Chambers" is a raw and unfiltered journey I performed live at Tushita Home in Ubud, Bali, in May 2023. This mix is a deeply personal introspection, a weaving of music and poetry that delves into the cavernous chambers of my heart, exploring themes of longing, unrequited love, and poignant nostalgia. It is undoubtedly the most sincere, emotional, and vulnerable thing I have ever shared here. 

This set spans my favored melodies from yesterday and today, tracks that have kept me company during the quiet nights and the restless days. Each song bears imprints of my life's chapters, evoking a certain melancholy, a shared understanding of human emotions. Layered on these melodies, you will hear my own spoken word poetry, lending an intimate narrative to this sonic journey.

Do note, the sound quality and balance may not be pristine, and my vocals might get lost in the ocean of sounds beneath at times. This is a live recording, and the resulting mix reflects its organic, unedited nature. I ask for your understanding and forgiveness. Focus instead on the emotional tapestry being woven - raw, authentic, and deeply resonant.

All the poetry and words spoken here emerged from the depths of my experiences, the private chambers of my heart that often remain unexplored and unexpressed. This mix is an invitation into these recesses, an exploration of the nuances of longing and unrequited love, and a tribute to the poignant beauty of our shared human experience.

"Heart's Chambers" is more than just a musical set, it is a documentation of feelings that are often left unsaid. It is an expression of the melancholy and nostalgia that resides within us all.
