Igniting 2013 with some serious skankology, Bristol’s Run Tingz Cru deliver one of their biggest releases to date… 

With their A&R skills sharpened and set to stun, Run Tingz quickly recognised the Drum & Bass and Jungle potential in Capitol 1212’s iconic ‘Don Man Sound’ and have revisioned it with two of their trademark dancefloor-driven rubs. 

First up, the Run Tingz Jungle remix: No genre complements Tenor Fly’s toasting more than Jungle, and this is verified proof: kicking off with a snatch of snappy beat-driven bars, nothing can prepare you for the dubby skank sonics that lay in wait. Bumping and grinding with energy and perfect pace, it pays respect to Tenor’s emphatic vocals while making the tune totally their own.

Not content with one massive speaker-shattering reversion, Run Tingz have also served up a Dirty remix for the bass heads among us. Opening with icy pads, it’s an instant stepback to the golden age of rave. Then, just as you’ve called up every surviving member of your whistle crew, in comes the wasp-like contemporary bassline, sizzling with 50 shades of menace. As elements old and new fuse with fury, this just keeps on giving. 

Fans of the Capitol 1212 swagger-soaked party joint, originally released in 2010, are also treated to a re-mastered version fresh for the New Year. Rolling on a heavy hip-hop break, the track oozes party flare, gradually building with a well-crafted horn refrain and a lyrical elasticity that conjures memories of Tenor’s trailblazing heritage work with the Freestylers in the late 90s. It’s the ultimate buzz cut fuelled and fronted by one of the most distinctive mic maestros in the game, drop this at any gathering and you’re guaranteed glorious vibes.

Cementing Run Tingz reputation as true Jungle connoisseurs, the South West sound scientists are about to give 2013 a dancefloor schooling. ‘Don Man Sound’ is the ultimate statement of intent. Recognise!

The summer is nearly here and tingz are heating up! Not weather-wise (come on, this is the UK!) but at the Run Tingz Bristol HQ. 

Having blazed into 2013 with distinction – four massive releases, three new label signees, parties across the UK, an exclusive signing to the on-point Boom agency – the Cru now pull the biggest rewind of their lives and take us on a trip back to 2010/11 with their most comprehensive dispatch to date… 

With over three years of unique contemporary Jungle locked up in the bullet proof Run Tingz vault, they thought it high time they revisited the first four releases and the tracks that started their epic journey. Giving the parts to a select team of all-star remixers, the result is a sun-soaked package of seismic soundclash proportions.

‘Jungle Champion’ leads. Run Tingz debut label release, they’ve given new signing J.Man the duties and he’s done them justice. Giving Blackout’s throaty patter centre stage on the well known ‘Real Rock” riddim, J strips the vibe back to a classic Jungle sub n’ skank approach giving it an instant timeless vibe.

Serial Killaz follow. Taking the Run Tingz anthem ‘Born Inna Babylon’ to a much deeper pasture with a softer swing and more emphasis on the iconic horn riff, once again they show why they’re the remixer of choice for many of the Jungle scene’s influential figures. Whaooooh!

Up next, Northern Lights’ take on the infamous ‘Informer’, a track so naughty they got Albert Square’s finest to front the video. With playful treatment of the Golden Hen, Steppa and Kitcha lull you into a false sense of security. Then BANG: when that bass drops, you’ll know all about it!

‘Sweet Sunshine’, meanwhile, has been expertly reworked another recent signing, Dossa. Complementing the sunny-side vibes of the original while adding his own party twist, the bass bubbles with a distinctive fuzzy, buzzy distorted funk that just won’t quit. 

Tenerife-based Ricky Tuff closes the show with his remix of ‘I Got Love’. Warming the blend with deeper subs, skippier riddim work and punctual bass, it’s yet another fine complement to the stunning vibes of the original and introduces the last in the hat trick of signings in true style.

Five key cuts that have helped shape the distinctive Run Tingz sound. Five fully charged festival shakers, primed and ready for sunny season and beyond. The summer is nearly here and our playlists are heating up!

Gold Dubs have had a very busy year so far and to top it all off - a release on the biggest jungle label in existence. ‘Jungle Is Changing’ is certainly one hell of a bold statement, however, with some serious backing from Serial Killaz, it’s something we are all willing to roll with.

Hopping straight into the Gold Dubs spaceship and straight into oblivion with ‘Distress Call’. One for the hardstep crew with its filtered out breaks and midrange bass notes, a tune that would fit perfectly in both your DJ sets and homemade Sci Fi movies. Cheshire Cat provides some memorable lyrics on ‘Rise Up’, a tasty mix of reggae roots and upfront jungle warfare. Scatty breakbeats fire all kinds of direct shots over the perfectly written chorus which will stay in your head for months to come. Hold tight Fleck on the link up.

‘Now’ is a grotty little roller, pure in its form of providing nothing but filth to the dancefloor. No messing about, straight for the jugular. You really do need to hear this through a big rig, a basement studio or a decent pair of headphones to fully appreciate it. Gilly G, a name you might have heard of? No doubt if you’re a keen reggae fan he’s probably on your hit list already. Good news then as he’s all over ‘Random’, a riddim so tough even that bulletproof vest you’re reaching for is probably of no use.

Final track ‘The Jungle is Changing’ backs up the initial statement. Our music is changing, it’s been through a big 360 degree spin many times, sometimes butchered, sometimes championed and this track demonstrates one form of upfront jungle that reflects both the future and the past. Pull up that shit!
