When Leah from 2bscene hit us up to come play at sugar in Adelaide, the last thing we would have ever thought is that it would be the last set ever in the club. We found out the night before that sugar would be shutting its doors for good after the weekend - what an honour to shut down such an institution and give that condesa one last workout for the good people of South Australia. Caim is the culmination of years of knob twitching, crate digging and intense partying.

The Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Caim surprises every time with rare finds from the nineties and zeroes, from techno to trance and from breakbeat to house. With residencies at Mood, the Tribe and Breakfast Club, whilst running his own label Lonely Planets Records, Mark Peeters is known for his notoriously deep and long (after-hours) sets. In the studio, Caim produces organic techno and stripped-down house with a touch of trance.

London born and based, @alix_uk is a diverse artist who traverses all corners of electronica. As well as a well-rounded knowledge of club functionality, he is known to have a penchant for obscurity and more avant-garde/alternative sounds which is depicted well in this mix. 
In his own words : “With this recording I wanted to capture something emulating a trip state from dark to light by starting in the depths of lucidity and developing into something connective, ethereal and elating. all while keeping a consistent, low tempo and chilled out vibe." 

As well as his residency for UK party/label Small World, Alix has recently launched his personal label Statica @staticaworldtransmissions. Focusing on unreleased music from his personal inspirations over the years. Borrowing from the past to bring to the present.

Next up is Maximilian FD, aka Max, originally from East London. Max is becoming a key figure on the London underground circuit, co-running the party Small World which moves between various spaces around the city. This one’s a carefully put together selection - a low-slung trip, exploring techno (?) and beyond. Thoughtful, measured, and built with intent.

Chez has a style that is hard to put your finger on, as Rio 017 well demonstrates. Recorded on the opening night of Bonanza, Chez kicked the terrace into action with a chuggy but cheerful selection of swampy groovers. 

Moving seamlessly from heads down tech house to breaks and EBM-ish numbers, Rio 017 is peppered with flecks of acid, swaying basslines and plenty of character.
