slowly taken through a dystopian empire, one ruled over by Subtension and one filled with scarily offensive, mechanical workings. Whilst pedestalling a balance of minimalism and the type of drum & bass which grabs you face first, he proves why he's becoming such a terrifying force in sets. With patient precision, he begins to add each layer on top of the other, creating a stack of intimidating sonic work. Producers Renzo and Freshold have both been making music since the rave days of the 90s and have since come together under the name Insomniax, a name that has become synonymous with quality drum & bass music. Since joining Viper, the UK duo have come with a consistent history of strong releases, including the hits ‘Uridium’, ‘Longest Night’, ‘Lunar Dub’, along with ‘Pulling Teeth’ (with Trei) from Viper’s 100th release ‘Viper 100’ EP and ‘Goldsmith Road’ off Viper’s latest ‘Drum & Bass Summer Slammers’ album. 

With their latest single ‘Crying Rain / Facehugger’, Insomniax once again showcase their diverse range of talents and production. 

‘Crying Rain’ is a deep, liquid tune with throwback, old school vibes. Captivating vocals pour out over a dub-infused soundscape that is perfect for summer. The track flows effortlessly from start to finish, demanding to be replayed as soon as it ends. 

On the other side of the single, ‘Facehugger’ gives us a glimpse into the darker side of Insomniax, with eerie neuro vibes. The sound design on this one is immaculate – crisp, clean, and calculated – a true testament to their skills as producers.
