Dungeon Beats Sessions on Subtle

The Cumbria-based producer has been taking the underground bass community by storm. As well as a succession of releases across well-known labels, he’s become a significant face in the North American scene, regularly touring around the 50 states. Recently, he’s appeared on Truth’s iconic Deep, Dark & Dangerous label with a four track EP called Sufferin’ that features collaborations with artists from both sides of the pond. His focus on working with other artists only increases the unique nature of his production, and he’s certainly not finished… Hypho is a man slap-bang in the middle of a whole ton of genres. Before him is a cauldron of breaks, techno, garage, jungle and dubstep that he mixes with his own unique ingredients. He stirs and stirs until it froths over the edge, then flings the sticky, swampy substance at respected labels ranging from  Tony J Riley’s Encrypted Audio to Stanton Warriors’ Punks by way of 877, Four40 and Eatmybeat. Dungeon Beats Sessions w/ CrissNSA, k.o & Hypho - Subtle - 04/08/2021

We're back with another Dungeon Beats Sessions and tonight is also the release date of Dungeon Beats - Volume 2, which is available via all digital outlets and streaming platforms. 

On the show, this month's host Hitman is bringing you the promo mix of DNG002. He's also welcoming one of the pioneering founders of dubstep - Loefah and a true legend of the Polish electronic scene - Dtekk. 

Loefah is a producer who was there when dubstep emerged from the primordial bass lake with releases on one of the labels involved in the genre's genesis - DMZ. He started collaborating with the Digital Mystikz on the DMZ nights run in Brixton and was part of Mary Anne Hobbs' Dubstep Warz radio show that contributed to breaking the genre to the mainstream. Known for having a dark and minimal style that used powerful basslines and menacing vocal samples creating a sense of dread. In around 2007, after falling out of love with the genre, he moved on to UK Bass music and founded Swamp 81. Shifting away from the scene's increasing restraints, his label has helped fuel the current reinvigoration of the house sound while his own DJ sets carry with them stunning levels of bass.

Dtekk is a Polish DJ, promoter, collector and cultural activist from Białystok. Since stepping behind the decks of the famed Metro club in 2000, he has become one of the country's most consistent and experienced DJs. His versatility allows him to mix a very broad spectrum of what’s best in techno, electro, experimental, ambient or Italo disco. His commitment brought him to stages throughout Poland and Europe, including Unsound, Audioriver, Berghain, Ohm and Porto’s Gare. He’s a founder of the Up To Date festival held annually in Białystok, as well as the city’s go-to nightclub called FOMO. He has been involved in the Salon Ambientu event series and Technosoul collective and label. Dtekk is also the author of the Pozdro Techno slogan and the father of the custom-built Pozdro Techno Sound System.

Dungeon Beats Sessions w/ Hitman, DTEKK & Loefah - Subtle Radio - 05/10/2022

We’re back with another Dungeon Beats Sessions. Ewski on hosting duties this month, welcoming two special guests - Czech-based producer WZ and local soldier Enes from Warsaw.

WZ is a Czech DJ and producer, co-founder and member of Shakhta Records and Harmless Youth. He started making music in 2009 and since then he has released on FatKidOnFire, eatmybeat, Locus Sound, Artikal Music UK or 9Rambos. In 2015 he took part in the Red Bull Music Academy. Soon after, his track "Death Struggle" was by Ishan Sound at Boiler Room. He has more releases incoming on Pond Life Party and Low End Music and he’s working on his debut rap-focused album. He’s hosting a residency on Subtle and Prague's radio Punctum.

Enes is a DJ/producer and turntablist from Warsaw, closely connected to the Polish underground bass-electronic and Hiphop scenes. Member of Dobrebity.pl, Kokafellaz and Naturalna Selekcja. His mixes are a mixture of different genres: Dubstep/Grime/Trap/Juke/Dnb/Rap and even Dub Techno, all flavoured with some serious scratching.
