Subtle Radio Archive

Distorted Sessions is a DJ show that lives in the in-between — where genres blur, borders fade, and sound becomes a tool for storytelling. Hosted by Apostle and rooted in The Distorted Collective, the show brings together artists from different cultures and backgrounds to share their unique sonic perspectives.

No two sets are the same. One week might lean into glitchy breakbeats and UK garage, the next into bass-heavy techno, experimental Indian textures, or warm ambient cuts. What ties it all together is a spirit of distortion — not just in the sound, but in how we challenge expectations, disrupt norms, and make space for new voices.

Insurrect is a 27 year-old Liverpool-based DJ & Svara Radio regular.

Cutting his teeth in the Hull house party circuit as a Crystal Clear DJ Society mainstay, Insurrect has quietly honed his craft across 10 years. What remains is a dedicated penchant for the dimly lit, bass-laden avenues of dance music - fluctuating through Dubstep, Breaks, B’more & Jersey Club, Hip Hop, and UKG.

Insurrect has supported the likes of Champion, Conducta, Madam X, Smokey Bubblin' B and Wookie, held residencies on Alto, Komunal, Subtle and Svara community radio stations, while being no stranger to throwing events - pioneering a Hull debut for Sir Hiss and a sell-out knees up at Manchester’s XLR with Arma.

Insurrect remains a member of Hull's Residents Association collective, regularly featured on the bill at the annual Humber Street Sesh festival.
