Altered State Is an 8 track collaborative VA which reflects on a year that has changed all of our lives in many ways. After months of lockdown away from nightclubs we began to sense that dance music lacked context and became more nostalgic. As producers we were drawn to slower tempo’s and we wanted to conceptualise these feelings of disillusionment onto a record that would be released as lockdown eased and life returned to ‘’normal’’. The E.P is designed to introduce us back into the clubbing state of mind with downtempo tracks that are melancholic, experimental and up-lifting. Tracks which will ease you into a night out and warm up the cold abandoned dance-floors.

Stepping up for Gimme A Break’s second original EP is multi-genre DJ and producer, Scart Lead, originally from the North West and now based in London. Through his releases on Subtle Records, Outhouse Sounds, LDH Records and Slippery Sounds, Scart Lead has revealed the strong influence of oldskool rave and hip-hop on his production style. Following a melancholic and moody UKG opener, the sinister mood of Scart Lead’s ‘Wheelin N’ Dealin'’ EP builds through vicious breakbeats and a dubstep-influenced finale. GAB would like to say an enormous thank you to Alex Kubis for coming through with this unbelievable artwork reflecting Scart Lead’s passion for 90s rave art.
