From the mind of Fuj comes two brilliant works of modern drum and bass music that are a perfect examples of why his art has received countless praises. Simply put, this release is an artist 
hitting their stride with ease and focus.

Opia opens with sparse and crisp percussion and pads that slowly build up momentum as the bass line drops and dances perfectly with pulsing synth stabs. These give way to more airy pads and layered sonic textures and break beats that are as good as it gets.


Prelagic is an exploration in minimal, yet complex break beats with flanged synths and chopped processed vocal snippets weaving in and out of frame. It beckons you to get lost in its hypnotic call and 
leaves you satisfied that did.

Hailing from dark & snowy Finland, Juho Kavasto (Askel) and Sainey Gibba (Elere) have individually, and collectively, been providing the liquid side of the drum & bass scene with some seriously sublime sonics since 2018. Finding inspiration in the challenging landscape of their homeland, they conjure up melancholic melodies and curious compositions which have their own unique flavour. Quickly grabbing the attention of Soulvent Records, this prolific pairing have been blessing our eardrums with a run of releases on a variety of labels, including Fokuz, Delta9 and Hospital Records. 

Both standalone musicians in their own right, this young matchup meld rich and diverse elements from a broad spectrum of genres. They draw from an arsenal of techniques to deliver their futuristic compositions too - Sainey’s vocal prowess and bass playing roots give him a great understanding of low-end, while Juho has a deft and detailed demeanour in his approach to all things percussive as a drummer. With tastes ranging from West African folk to political hardcore punk, calming neo-soul to videogame soundtracks spanning the last 15 years, the result of their efforts always produces fresh sounding music which rarely rests on its laurels.

The pair have already achieved a number of childhood aspirations, including providing DJ support for loungecore D&B pioneer London Elektricity in Helsinki, releasing vinyl on Med School Music and receiving healthy airtime on a wealth of radio stations including BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM, Vision Radio and Finnish national station YleX. But this fact in no way, shape or form means they’re getting complacent; their continued drive and passion for the music shows no signs of slowing down, with them receiving regular DJ support from the likes of DJ Marky, René LaVice and Random Movement. 

While 2021 promises so much for the world, these two bright young talents will ensure that whatever takes place will have a burgeoning soundtrack to pair whatever the weather. Pull-on your mittens and prepare for some serious skanking - Scandinavian style.

After five years of planning, writing, and refining their sound, London-based production duo Kolectiv are set to release their long-awaited debut drum & bass album, Circadian Rhythms.

The project began in the aftermath of the pandemic, when the pair started setting aside tracks that captured the spirit of a night out at a drum & bass event. Their vision was clear: to create an album that reflects the variety, energy, and progression of a rave – from the first beats that pull you into the closing sounds that carry you home.

“Going out to drum & bass nights, you’d hear so many different flavours across six or seven hours. We wanted the album to follow that same arc – like a circadian rhythm, a natural flow of time, but in this case the cycle of a rave,” Kolectiv explain.

To achieve this, the duo placed a strong emphasis on originality and sound design. Most of the album was built from scratch using their own recorded samples, crafted through sessions with keys, drums, and guitars, and only dipping into external sources when absolutely necessary. Vocal collaborations from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika and Kerry Donnelly add unique flavour to the project, while carefully placed interludes tie the project together as a complete listening experience.

“This isn’t just a collection of tracks. We wanted it to be a journey – a cradle-to-grave kind of experience – with highs, lows, and moments to breathe.”

The title Circadian Rhythms captures that intention perfectly: an audio diary of a night spent immersed in drum & bass culture, told through Kolectiv’s trademark blend of technical precision and emotional depth.

The project also coincided with a complete studio overhaul, giving Kolectiv a fresh environment to finalize and mix down the record with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

With Circadian Rhythms, Kolectiv deliver more than an album – they present a story, an atmosphere, and a tribute to the music and culture that shaped them.
