Chef Red - Floating

Chef Red (born as Laurens Gerssen, 1992) is a rather artist exceptional from Amsterdam. His love for all things soul, funk and jazz inspired him to start creating his own music and sound. His tenacious attitude and years of practice has allowed him to reach a certain stage in his craft, and perhaps the best way to describe a Chef Red sound is the combination of a warm melody or bass, complimented by a tight drum. Not forgetting his constant references to the 70's & 80's, and you get a good idea of where he's coming from.

He's back with the second release on DTW, and this time, Chef choose to explore different bpms, and 'Floating' is a clear representation of that. Borrowing from the deeper trap sounds, a grittier side of him comes alive - a side we hear immense potential in. 
Chef is also working on an Artist Spotlight release for us which will be dropping in the next few weeks or so -  do keep a lookout for that.

phuture: Why do you produce and what keeps you going?

william crooks: I produce for a lot of reasons. I love learning and creating. I love that moment when I play a track for my friends and they go, “whoa shit, you made this??” I love the feeling of hearing something in my head and being able to make it tangible, make it real. It’s given me an incredibly positive outlet and connected me with a lot of great people who I wouldn’t have otherwise met. I keep going because I’ve come too far to stop now.
