Eve Schwarz - Ruptured Souls [HADESPODCAST 009]

I am a Polish artist who is constantly looking for new sounds and inspiration. I try to combine my interests (painting, photography, graphic design, visualization) with music, and sound by creating covers (the last one - RELIC VA [LTCR001]). mechanical fury, electronic-guitar clashes, factory rhythmics, metallic impulses, bass chain lines, concrete pulsation, electro-industrial textures, industrial atmospheres, factory whispers - these are the main motives of my music. I think that the sound of an industrial machine matches perfectly the sound of electric guitars and male vocals, which can often be heard in my sets. I try to give visual inspirations and emotions in each mix so as to build a story that will captivate, seduce or inspire. I mainly work in the genre of industrial techno, ebm, hard techno, however I do not limit myself in terms of genre to get the best of what I would like to convey.

Since 2014, Codex Empire has built an international reputation for dark and intense techno productions and live shows. 

Mahk Rumbae - the British born, Vienna based producer behind Codex Empire - has been creating challenging experimental electronic music for more than 30 years working as one half of industrial/experimental band Konstruktivists as well as a number of varied solo and side-projects. 
combining this background in dark electronic music with heavy rhythmic elements makes Codex Empire an intense and simultaneously danceable experience both live and on record. 

Codex Empire has performed over 100 live shows across Europe, Japan, Korea and Canada, as well as numerous appearances in Berlin at Berghain, Tresor, Arena Club, Suicide Circus and Boiler Room. 

After releasing several well received EPs on aufnahme + wiedergabe, HORO, Sacred Court and Khemia Records, as well as numerous remixes and appearances on V/A compilations, Codex Empire released his full-length debut album ‘Slow Erosion’ in February 2019 on aufnahme + wiedergabe. This was followed by ‘Protected by Rage’ and ‘Broken by Fear’ in 2020. The latest EP release “Overneed” was released late 2023 on Rant & Rave. 2024 will bring both a new LP and EP and several new remixes.

Substencia is a musician, producer and DJ based in Paris. Her music-loving background soon led her to get involved in the electronic scene in various forms: labels, webzines, and event organization. Since 2017, she has been creating dark industrial techno music productions, infused with a lot of cinematics, collages, noise, released on with several EP's, compilations and remixes on labels as Instinkt, Coup, Subverted, Culture of Violence, Durch, Drec, or Swedish label Kallkällan where she released in 2022 her third EP supported by many international artists. Highly personal and instinctive, her approach to music has developed over the years through constant practice and listening. Pure industrial music, dark ambient, neofolk, 90’s techno and baroque music: her many influences give to her DJ sets a cinematic, organic and intense dimension.
Substencia regularly shares her passion for music across France, and has performed at parties and festivals such as Château Perché and FIFIB in Bordeaux, as well as iconic clubs in Europe, including Tresor in Berlin, Elipamanoke in Leipzig and Moog in Barcelona.
Since 2021, she has been part of the post-industrial noise duo Kabocha, who released their first EP, 'Human Exceptionalism', on their own label in April 2023 and they played several live performances in Paris.
Recently she launched a YouTube channel named “RUST”, a new webzine dedicated exclusively to alternative electronic music, with interviews and more to come.

TEOCHAO PODCAST #061 - Substencia Liveset

Italian born, non-binary, Glasgow based, Dj & music producer and Left Hand Path practitioner 3SBAT (pronounced Esbat)  will bring you in the dark realm of their Ritual Techno - a blend of dark industrial , ritual , noise and broken techno. 

Playing gigs in between Glasgow and Berlin, 3SBAT has performed in clubs such as Tresor , about://blank , OHM ,  and Kit Kat Berlin, in events such has Gegen Berlin, SUBVERTED & VuMantra, .and just about to debut b2b with manu_facturer this summer for Riverside Festival Glasgow. 

3SBAT has releases on the mighty Soma Records ; as well as industrial experimental labels such as Revok Records (London) , Subverted (Berlin), VuMantra (Berlin) , Experiment Records Tokyo ,  hard tech label Brutalism x Basseht. and dark ambient italian label Obseqvium Records.

3SBAT is also resident and 1/3 of the Glaswegian Collective A.D.S.R - a new space  for underground techno in Glasgow held bi-monthly at La Cheetah . Part of the team are themselves, manu_facturer & Kalopsia.

Nicki Black’s [@subvertedscene, Berlin] musical style is heavily influenced by their journey through the Goth and EBM scene of Berlin, which served as a starting point to their exploration of dark and experimental music genres such as Noise, Ambient and Industrial. They are now harnessing the essence of these genres and applying it to ritualistic Techno sets that follow the twists and turns of broken beats.

We curate queer sex-positive parties with equally queer line-ups, featuring mostly non-binary and trans DJs. Our aim is to platform artists with gender identities that are under-represented in the music industry, showing that it is possible to have more inclusive and diverse booking practices without a decrease in musical quality, but in fact with an increase by bringing new and previously unheard perspectives to the dance floor.

Discovering and nurturing new talent is at the very essence of SUBVERTED. We stand in resistance to the homogenisation and sanitisation to which the techno industry has been subjected in recent years via formulaic, easily-digested productions and repetitive line-ups, and intend to continue opening the industry's gates for a new generation of artists that are pushing their own unique and fresh take on dark industrial techno.
