Having zoned out to 3Step and some of that private school 'piano, I'm back to what is definitely my home - BANGING AFRO-TECH! And what better way for the prodigal son to return than with pockets loaded AF! 

This mix is an ode to Masšh's 'Astral' sound. His out-of-body experience inducing productions leave one transported and definitely short of breath. To help celebrate the release of his reworks honoring 2 songs that South African house music lovers [my age and beyond anyway] will know and love deeply [DJ Fresca & Kudoskelem's 'Int'engekhoyo [feat. Lelethu Nkula] Kentphonik's 'Masingita' [feat. Lolo], on Stay True Sounds, his name features 5 times in this mix. That all 5 of the Masšh-produced songs in this mix have been released in the last 6 months, is testament to the quality of production, the absolutely insane work rate and the fact he is intent on owning 2023!!

Speaking of owning 2023 - Blanka Mazimela was kind enough to slide us an exclusive!! I'm incredibly excited and feel blessed to present to you - the andhim remix of a track that has come to mean so much more to me - the 2020-released Afro-spiritual classic 'Gcwanini' with Korus and Sobantwana.  I am a fan of both the German duo andhim [see their track 'Donner' and his remix of Armonica's 'Ngeke'] and Blanka's work, and so this remix was definitely a match made in heaven in concept for me - and I'm glad that it definitely delivers on all it promised.

I always try to have a personal touch in all of my mixes and DJ SOSO's "Precious" [Afro Fanatix Mix] is a deserving highlight. He teams up with frequent collaborators Ozy Man & Mr OG. to craft this smooth Afro House beauty, with all the hallmarks of an anthem! This is yet another release from the boutique indie Ubizo Cafe Records. SOSO is a father, entrepreneur and groove provider of note and someone we're lucky enough to call a friend of the House of Finesse! Proud to say we have stolen some pointers from the tenacity and consistency with which he has approached his music career over the years. Kgomotso Mokgatlhe, SubVerse, is a South African hip hop artist intent on making a name for himself through authentic, hard-hitting and honest music. In his own words: “African child with passion and style, straight out the 3rd world – still reppin’ with maximum pride.”

Tswellopele The EP is his debut project, due out in Q3 2012 with a hit single “Ntwana ya Rusty” as the lead song. Having worked with producers including Instro, TBeatz (of Jenerik Soulz) and Audiophiles, Tswellopele will serve as an introduction and appetizer to the music of SubVerse. The project sees SubVerse showing his full range of skills from crafting capturing and vivid stories through to nifty wordplay and tales of an artist chasing his dreams.
Born and bred in the North West province town of Rustenburg, SubVerse quickly discovered his love for music of all types but most especially hip hop.  His honed creative writing skills and explosion of hip hop and RnB in the mid-90’s is what lead him to start experimenting with song-writing at a fairly young age. Subverse’s lyrics are mostly English with a mix of SeTswana, being a proud “Ntwana ya Rusty.” While his influences mainly stem from the hip hop genre, he does not limit his taste in any way and dabbles into other genres – a trait that is evident in his music.

SubVerse plans to craft a career as a musician, performer and household name within the entertainment scene for many years to come. First among his plans is an award-winning debut album planned for 2013. You would do well to remember the name.
