MACY is back with a brand new EP: Heaven Up Here

MACY is a record producer and artist with a diverse sound. He often explores different genres and ideas with his music, and his most recent EP is another amazing example of what he can accomplish creatively. The new studio effort is titled “Heaven Up Here.” 

As you might be able to tell from the moment you hit the play button, MACY focuses specifically on House music for this particular EP. However, he does so in an incredibly diverse way. There are so many different influences on the EP, ranging from progressive arrangements down to melodic house and organic as well. As a result of such a distinctively kaleidoscopic approach, the artist actually managed to achieve a diverse listening experience. In addition to that, the production is at a very high level, and each song hits the mark in terms of sheer sonics. The kick drum, which is the bread and butter of House music, in my opinion, is always centered, focused, and big. Never too subby, never to click-y - It has the right tone to fill up the frequency spectrum and keep the song’s bounce alive, but without ever overpowering the other elements in the mix. The percussion elements around the backbone of the beat are all very engaging as well, particularly the hat sounds, which offer a nice, cut-through flow. The melodic content on this EP is wildly diverse as well. On songs such as “Moonlight,” the producer explores a more haunting and mesmerizing soundscape. However, things play out a bit differently on the song “People,” which has a unique rhythm that even reminds me of Afrobeat at times, particularly due to the inclusion of some organic percussion elements. The song “Deeply Love” is one of the highlights of the release. It has a pleasant old-school warmth to it, and the beat feels dry and spacious, creating a nice contrast with the atmospheric synth parts in the background, offering a nice stere depth as well. Last but not least, “Feels Like A Falling” is one of the most upbeat and energetic songs on this EP. The percussion parts are as loud and prominent as the kick drum, and the bass has a nice growl to it.
