The next chapter for Haŵs actualises itself in the form of Dawl’s ‘Break It Down’ EP, a warehouse-ready, bouncy and charismatic record channelling insatiable vigour from beginning to end. 

‘Break It Down’ on the A-side is a relentless jackhammer of a track, pumped full of rich breaks and clipped acid lines. ‘Subject 91’ flattens the gas pedal even further, with a gated, spectral synth levitating hazily above the militant drums that heave the whole track forward. 

On the B-side, the brawny ‘Proton’ returns to the acidic burn of the opening track, except this one is occupied by chirping synths and oscillations of noise that seem to rise and fall with a trippy authority. Finally, high-flyer and man of the moment Kosh employs his natural gift of the gab on the closing remix of ‘Break It Down’ with a raucous rhythm and a regurgitated bassline that never dwindles on its own gusto.

Despite the substantial weight and pugnacity of this 4-tracker, the staple Haŵs euphoria twinkles through. There’s no shortage in complex drum sequencing, breaks samples and all the other frills, yet the final output is compact and neat. As Haŵs increases its vision more extensively to dance music from across the board, it seems that the best things might at times come as contradictions, and this record’s tone certainly fits the bill.

Newcomer @magiccarpetrecords sets off despite travel restrictions with a versatile EP from Berlin based producer Phyzikal Flex. 

The four track release is a voyage through the history of dancefloor music, drawing influences from UK Rave, Jungle and early Detroit Techno. Phyzikal Flex navigates lush sonic textures, poignant basslines and warm, organic breakbeats with ease, all whilst channelling nostalgic flashbacks of the second summer of love.

4Plae kick off the first instalment of their Noir series with “Delta Insignia”, a nod to the final frontier and beyond. With two tracks from label founder ADMNTi accompanied by sublime remixes from Bushwacka! and Sam Bangura, this initial release sets the tone for what is to come for 4Plae Noir.

The title track opens the release with luscious pads accompanied with breaky drum patterns. The mood is continued with ‘Vry1’, with and added tinge of electro, which the illustrious Bushwacka! takes to the next level with his remix of the track on the flip side. Close friend of the label and Northsouth co-founder Sam Bangura makes his debut remix appearance to close the EP with an ethereal and deep remix of “Delta Insignia”.

Our naughty cat is now at the club meeting some friends, ready to enjoy a big night out. Hyas provides the soundtrack of this night with a strong 4-tracker which features his influences : house, acid and a pinch of UKG. French producer & DJ, Hyas is also the co-founder of the Bardouin Music imprint dedicated to acid sounds and just released a split EP with Sentiments on his famous Light On Earth label, he is definetely an artist to watch out and we are thrilled to welcome him for his first solo EP on vinyl.
