Alaina, (i've come undone)

Pull your head out of the stars for the accessibly-burgeoning, alt/indie project: sucks to be pluto. Quoth Childish Gambino, “That’s wordplay.” 

Now before you go back and search for double entendres or things you might have missed in that first sentence, stay with us. Due to the combined efforts of Ben Isaacs and Jacob Cupps, sucks to be pluto has emerged from its ideogenous habitat of ‘hanging out and playing music together’ to become ‘alright, it’s time to be a band.’ Both artists bring very different backgrounds to the table: metal and jazz influences, respectively. As disgusting as the hypothetical combination of the two might sound in your head, Isaacs and Cupps have aspects of the two styles into a clever and unique juxtaposition that can only be categorized as indie rock. Currently, they work towards the creation of their inaugural Extended Play, affectionately entitled CAT. the EP, which stands for (C)atharsis (A)nd (T)herapy. They also are involved in each of their schools’ music departments intending to study at any university “that will give them enough money to not be broke for the rest of [their] lives indefinitely.”

Versatility defines the band’s sound aesthetic. With both members capable of playing at least 4 instruments – including but not limited to acoustic/electric/bass guitar, drums, keys, and vocals – each are capable of writing, producing and performing on their own and all the more effectively together. They have each been involved in previous musical endeavors but believe that sucks to be pluto is “in it for the long haul” because the band members share a nearly identical set of beliefs, goals, and aspirations. Broadly, their common desire is to enter into the music industry as professionals: with goals ranging from as grandiose as selling out Red Rocks Amphitheatre to as humble as leading worship in youth ministry in the church world. Either way, sucks to be pluto is their first food into a career path which they wholeheartedly desire to pursue.
