Sheffield's hugely talented producer Hedge Maze lands on Selvamancer. Years in the making after a long search to decipher an unreleased tune from an unknown alter ego found online (title track Riding The Wave), we're excited to finally bring it to the masses. Morphed industrial violence, tearjerking post-dubstep-trap and the ruthless title track bounce off the walls. Let's commence!

"You use a mirror to see your face, you use a work of art to see your soul." G.B.Shaw... but if you stood with your breath appearing on the canvas what would you say to a Mane or a Rothko three inches away from it. As you push your nose up to the mirror of your soul, what to say to it in response.
To listen to one's soul is to hear its depth, for it has many voices, but which voice to listen to. Fear be a man's best friend, he will accompany you should you wish. Forever on your coattails, a whisperer of half unseen truths: distorting perceptions. grief, illness, disappointment, pain, struggle, poverty, loss, terror, heartache, All to be feared. Yet, all features of a life lived! Courage then is simply to live and to live well, choose the voice that gives light. Throw the house out of the window so some say, throw yourself too, say I.

| PREMIERE | Hedge Maze - Strukku's Beat | [Selvamancer]

Essaira releases her first drops through this limited series of 50 clear vinyls, with silkscreened and numbered covers and inserts, available exclusively via Bandcamp and in a few select shops. It is just a taste of its sonic dimension. Started in a living room in 2023, a series of tracks were churned out exclusively out of hunger. The darker sides were exposed, like wounds under the sun, their colour turning to rust.
Warm sounds blend with raw electronic rhythms, vocals overlap with taut synthesisers, pierced by sharp guitars, while industrial rhythms mark the darkness and power of this time. Pay attention.

Dramla is a lament from the belly, an existential annoyance that stems from an awareness of how a capitalist society inevitably pilots some of our daily choices. Facing the stares of those who do not understand but still place production expectations on us. The only thing worth investing in is feeding the strays.

Xirxe is a hymn to weirdness, to the monstrous feminine. An overturning of the vision of the woman-victim that comes to us from Greek mythology, in which courage to distance oneself from toxicity is interpreted as escape, weakness. In which defiance of patriarchal Olympian rules is seen as an act of vicious disobedience and not as vindication of one's own choices. Xirxe takes a voice, recounts her choices, her courage and her vulnerability. Through self-awareness, she moves her choices and shapes her surroundings, dancing around obstacles, defining limits to be defended at all costs if violated Every body, in order to be crossed, needs consent.

“Valley Beyond” is the Suction Records label debut by Heiki, aka Toronto-based, Canadian electronic music veteran, Heiki Sillaste. Heiki first made his mark with Digital Poodle, a cult EBM project that he began in 1988, going on to release several albums, along with a string of addictive, industrial dancefloor anthems, including “Work Terminal” and “Soul Crush,” which each received the reissue/remix treatment via a pair of 12”s on Suction in 2015, and 2017, respectively. 

Like many EBM producers in the ‘90s, Heiki found himself losing interest in that increasingly stagnant scene, and quickly shifted his musical focus towards the emerging techno/rave/ambient scene. Over the years, he’s delved into everything from dub techno, to drum and bass, to ambient drone, but for the past few years he’s been diving deep into hardware analog electro and acid. “Valley Beyond” is the result of nearly a decade perfecting his acid/electro sound, finding Heiki at the top of his game.

Highlighted by 2 rocking vocoder electro anthems, “Valley Beyond” and “Komplexoboxxx,” the 6-track vinyl EP moves seamlessly from sinister electro to funky acid, with melodic analog strings, 808 boom, and 303 squelch as constants, weaving in and out. Rounding out Side A of the EP is “Andermatt” — this plaintive and melancholic slow-jam may seem like the odd man out here, but it’s actually an insight into what to expect on the CD/digital full-length.

For the CD and digital download release, the 6-track vinyl EP is expanded to an 11-track “Valley Beyond” full-length. For those who buy the vinyl, it ships with a digital download card inside, giving you access to all 11 tracks. CD/digital exclusive tracks include a slower acid jam, several melodic ambient tracks and interludes, and a bonus remix of acid standout “Highway 10” from the vinyl. 

Available digitally, on CD, and as a limited vinyl EP, with 100 copies on BLUE-IN-CLEAR-vinyl + 200 copies on BLACK-vinyl. Vinyl includes a Bandcamp download card inside.
