Hicky & Kalo make a long awaited return to the label with the ‘Coming Back Home’ EP. ​

Bucking the trend of modern artists, Hicky & Kalo made their name for carving out a niche in the underground scene as resident DJs at the one of its kind Stereo Club in Montreal, as well as landing releases on some progressive house top labels such as Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo and Replug. And of course by spreading great music trough their own imprint, Plaisir Sonores.

The EP opens with ‘Coming Back Home’, where a dark groove emerges with spiky bass. Lightening the track, pretty arps dance playfully as heavily effected vocal ad libs add depth. One for the late floors waiting for the sun to make its first appearance of the day. 
‘From Sea to Sea’ continues the trend; deep satisfying low end grooves juxtaposed by breezy arps. A muscular, and ultimately danceable floor filler. 
Finally, the pair lay down some ‘Wisdom’(!), a lighter number with tons of character. Ethereal and uplifting, the groove is richly melodic and hypnotic from the off.

John Cosani returns to the label with three new tracks. 

Highly regarded among his peers, the Argentinian DJ/producer has continued to gather pace with stand out tracks for Tale & Tone, Timeless Moment and Warung Recordings. Known for his silky smooth DJ sets, John has soundtracked parties all over the globe. 

Opening with ‘Drooping’, Cosani wastes no time getting into the groove. Supremely funky, the shaker-led percussion and rubbery bass are a match made in heaven punctuated only by the swarm-like synths that ebb and flow. Reaching fever pitch in the main break, the second section is a maelstrom of energy and airy sonics. Perfect peak time beats. 

‘It Doesn’t’ keeps the pace up with an uptempo vibe that sets the stage for some firework melodics. Mutating into a monster groove over the first few minutes, melodics add new textures and energy in the mid-section. Serving as a calm oasis, the main break strips back the elements before the final half powers from the blocks. Finally, ‘Donga’ rounds out the pack in style. Words of Nio makes his debut on Sudbeat with an exciting brace of tracks. Patrice Baumel completes the package with a remix that shows his immense taste. 

Ibiza-based, multi-instrumentalist, Words of Nio is an audio chameleon influenced in his early years by Underworld, Depeche Mode and Aphex Twin. He played and toured with various bands since he was 16. After his last band broke up he took some time out to refocus, and by 2015 had moved to Ibiza to pursue a full-time music career again. Now signed to Renaissance, Get Physical and more, his sound is finding a wider audience and soundtracking parties across the globe. 

Opening with 'Beside The Fire', a deep shaker-led groove reveals soft piano and delicate vocals. Very much focused on vibe and atmosphere, the deepness is punctuated by clever FX and mindful sonics. On the remix, Patrice Bäumel focuses on the vocal elements creating something of a Thom Yorke vocal arrangement that squeezes out every last drop of emotion. One more stellar work added to his outstanding discography. Finally, the second original cut, 'Whispers', follows a more tribal path. Emotive and vocal, its perfect for those 4am-deep-in-your-own-space groovathons. Nuanced and incredibly detailed work from the new kid on the block!

GMJ & Matter return to Sudbeat with 'Everything Dissolves'.

Stable members of the Australian electronic scene, GMJ & Matter are a combo that spreads pure love for the craft. Known for their otherworldly progressive sound, the duo, who have their own successful solo careers, began their collaboration back in May 2016 and have created moments of dance floor genius ever since.

Opening the EP, the tile track 'Everything Dissolves' we are quickly immersed in the liquid smooth sound that has won them the respect of fans across the globe. Snappy hats and a rubbery bassline hypnotise before the subtle melodics and spoken word vocals draw you deeper still. Early morning music dripping in soulfulness.

Next up, 'Naxxar' continues apace. From a funky shaker-driven percussive framework, deep bass and icy pads hang as subtle middle-eastern sonics add direction. Growning towards the main break, the track takes on a new energy, powering into the final half with renewed vigour. Finally, 'Nomadica' shows the duo's dubbier tech side. Aimed more at the pre-peak time, the groove is harder; dirtier and ready to dance all night long. Sonics flutter by like angels from above. This is contemporary progressive house at its very best. Jody Barr returns to open Sudbeat’s 2025 schedule high on a wave of success.

Breaking onto the scene around a decade ago, Jody has built up a serious back catalogue on some high profile imprints such as LNOE, Balance and The Soundgarden, as well as support from elite players such as Sasha, Laurent Garnier and Hernan Cattaneo himself. 

His own label, Portable Minds has grown in statue since launch in 2016 allowing Jody and like-minded artists to release creative projects that buck current trends without fear.

Opening the EP, ‘Cherry Red’ bounces from the speaker. An uptempo percussive framewerk sets the scene as melodics ebb and flow. Frolicking bass notes playfully weave among the arps, creating a fun, summery vibe for these cold winter months. 

Next up, ‘Cordoba’ is presented in two distinct flavours. In original form is a patient, trancey mid-setter with bags of personality and a huge, epic breakdown,
while the Sierra Mix showcases Jody’s mastery of broken beats.

Sudbeat jump into 2025 with an incredible debut for a new duo making some serious waves. 

Alto Astral are Matias Villafañe and Martina Mozzoni, an Argentinian pair based in Spain making amazing, emotional music as a live performance duo incorporating live vocals, guitars, pianos, synthesizers, and controllers. Touring across the globe, they have been nominated for Best Duo and Best Live Set in M.E.C Awards in Argentina, and have an impressive back catalogue on labels such as The Soundgarden, Or Two Strangers and Movement. 

Opening with 'Between Us' starts off like a sleeping giant, drawing the listener in. A tribal beat gets the dancefloor moving joins quickly by dancing hats and pretty arps. Martinas vocals are heartfelt and instantly captivating drawing even the curious passer-by deeper into their emotional web of wonder! Next up, 'Luciérnaga' begins in quiet ambience before launching into a tough progressive groove that hypnotises with delicate arps and a thunderous bassline. Super deep, but highly danceable, the energy is undeniable.

Kevin Di Serna returns to Sudbeat with 'The Perfect Time is Now' featuring a massive remix from Musumeci and Dodi Palese for a pack that oozes absolute musical quality.

No stranger to the label, Kevin has recently been busy DJing worldwide as well as making great music like his last collab with Hernan himself. Away from Sudbeat, he's amassed a healthy catalogue on some huge labels including LNOE and Innervisions.

Opening with a tough tribal groove, 'The Perfect Time is Now' leaps from the speakers. Spoken words add some intrigue as the percussions intensify for new melodic layers to increase the tension. Letting up briefly in the breaks, this is a fiery peak-time bruiser for the darker floors. On remix duties, Musumeci and Dodi Palese, who scored a huge hit with Innervisions'Secret Weapons series recently up the ante here with a groovy and musical reinterpretation that will have your hands to the sky!

DCLVIII OFC joins the label with his unmistakable touch of trippy techno influenced by the purest Detroit sound.

Based in the south of France, DCLVIII OFC has risen quickly being on the lips of pioneering DJs such as Laurent Garnier, Karotte, Danny Howells and Hernan Cattaneo. He broke onto the scene a little over 18 months ago and yet shows no signs of slowing down with releases on COD3 QR, Brique Rouge and Metrohm. We assure you that he’s just at the beginning of his sonic journey…

Starting with the analogue funk of ‘Become Human’, sinewy sonics vibrate along with a deep percussive groove, opening and closing with increasing tension. In full flow, the track breathes effortlessly as new melodic layers introduce new avenues of sound.

Next up, ‘Reborn’ delves into deeper tech waters with the motor city at the core of its inspiration. Bulbous kicks lead the way as icy pads, rubbery bass and distant stabs develop into an hypnotic, life-affirming work of art. A creative powerhouse with music signed to everyone from All Day I Dream to Beat Boutique via The Soundgarden and more, Paul's tunes have soundtracked plenty of dance floors worldwide thanks to his natural instinct  in creating chunky grooves and mental riffs that are super effective in a djset.

Opening with 'Rea', tough kicks and icy atmospherics create a machine funk vibe layering percussions and dark sonics. Groovy and uncompromising, there's no let up in the break which powers forward for the darker floors.

'Pulsa De Nura' continues apace. Dark drums light up the floor as squelchy bass and sparse percussion introduce us to the melodics before bursting into life. Heads down to the break, a keyed hook adds light relief before we plunge back into the depths of the peak time night.

A pair of aces is ready to hit the dancefloors with another brilliant collaboration.

Known intimately for their solo careers, Quivver and Dave Seaman are UK house pioneers who forged their sound on the lush, fertile dance floors of the early '90s. Together, they've taken the world by storm with two incredible mixes for the highly regarded Balance Music imprint. Teaming up in late 2023 for 'Not This Time' on Poker Flat, they are now signed to some well respected labels, including Selador and Warung.

Concieved in the sunny Midlands town of Nuneaton early this year the aptly named 'Cowbells of Nuneaton' kicks off in fine fashion. Bouncy tribal beats, scratchy effects, and a liquid cool bassline give way to a funky cowbell hook and ethereal vocal adlibs. Squelchy acid at the drop hits like a nuclear strike.

'The Promise' takes things much deeper. Whispered voices and sparse tribal drums intensify with airy sonics and panned melodies that draw you in. Reserved and classically sounding, it's a warm, melancholy blanket of audio joy.

A top five tracker from Black 8, the talented Egyptian producer arrives on Sudbeat and oozes of class.
The title track is a sophisticated fairly housey affair, with emotions pouring from its every part, with acoustic guitars and sampled choral vocals meeting warm pads and more, all melting wonderfully into a beautiful warm soundscape of the highest order.
'TNT' takes things a little tougher and darker, as melodics sprinkle over shuffling edged beats, while acidic noises ping around.
'Rising Tide' is a mysterious slab of goodness. As dark meets light, with big phat synths and gnarly tinged sounds meeting luscious pads, while all along teased by long drops and a great groove.
'Once Upon a Time' is a smile inducing piece of electronica, wrapped up in a blanket of dreaminess. We don't need to say any more really.
Closing things up nicely, we have the club mix of 'Once Upon a Time' , and using the elements from the original and adding gated synths and a deep bassline, turns in to a dance floor moment.

Larrosa & Nico Sparvieri join the family with an impressive trio of tunes.

The Argentinian duo have releases signed to Selador and Nightcolours, and continue their fruitful working relationship on the mighty Sudbeat. Known for their individual successes, with decades in the scene, their pairing is proving to be a golden union that draws the very best from them both.

Opening the EP with 'Faraway', delicate arps and keys drive the track from the off. Vocal chops add emotive candy while new layers of melodics mid way power the track into peak time.

'Joy' begins deeply. Snappy percussions get the room moving as melodics and a full vocal work on the mind. A perfect example of ebb and flow, this sonic journey will have them screaming for more.

'Trust Me' delves into bumpty Chicago vibes. Wonky and deliberate, the groove is machine funk heaven. Growing throughout the opening section, the broken beat midsection is a joyous, hands in the air e-moment.

Powering forward in the midsection, the main break is a work of genius, dropping out layers but maintaining all the energy and punch. Brilliant.

Lets start with ‘Arise'. The beautiful blend of tinkling light arps and big phat bass sounds combine beautifully. Some tracks just come along and cause major devastation, and this is one of those!Press play, listen, and smile!
