Old friend and bandmate Karthik, popped by the store the other day, all the way from Canada, where he teaches and performs music. He loved our store tag line - " Come play with us" and wanted to get with it too....so while he rushed out to buy a bamboo flute, Vivin our Mktg Head unpacked his trusty Nord Stage 88 Piano and a Blue Bird condenser mic...then plugged them both into our brand new StudioLive 32AI Digital Mixer from Presonus plugged into a Mac Book Pro running Presonu's one touch Capture, recording software.......we hit record and heres the result of the jam session.......for the tech minded - i mixed down the tracks on Ableton LIve using only LIVE's on board delay/reverb, EQ and compression and nothing more....I also added some guitar swells in the intro, played on a US Strat with lace sensor pick ups and plugged into a Scarlett 2i4 interface......Do tell us what you think of this.

Surojit Guha sings some of the most soulful music you have ever heard. This recording was done at his home studio using his brand new set up based around his Focusrite Forte Sound Card and Blue Mic Reactor Mic....the wav files popped into Ableton Live and using UAD2 Powered plug ins , primarily the LA2A compressor, EMT 250 plate reverb and Oxford Inflator and mixed over Equator D5 Co Axial Monitors..........sheer bliss.

We just installed the Universal Audio AMS RMX16 legendary Reverb unit and to give it a twirl on a  vocal track.... we opened up a raw vocal track recorded on Ableton LIve9. Teen singer Chaitra, recorded this at my office desk. Chaitra played a Kurzweil MPS20 home piano, we stuck an Audix OM7 in front of her as main vocal mic and used its hypercardioid pattern to isolate the vocals from the loud piano in front of her.

There is no other signal processing except an ableton compressor and the AMS Neve RMX16 reverb processor on Vox plate reverb preset ...set at just 4% wet signal.

Renown Singer Surojit Guha sings an old Bangla song at our demo room  using just a dynamic hand held microphone plugged into the Apollo Twin Solo. 
UAD2 Powered Plug ins - We also added a touch of compression on the vocals alone using a Teletronics LA2 compressor and a little reverb from the classic EMT 140 plate reverb and then polished it off with the Ampex Tape Saturation for some authentic vintage tone.

This track was recorded in our office, directly into an Apollo Twin Solo, Audio Interface from Universal Audio and processed with a small touch of LA2 Compression, Pultec EQ and EMT140 Reverb.

Sunita Sarathy celebrates her birthday at ProMusicals by gifting us another impromptu recording when she dropped in for a jam session with our Head of Mktg Vivin Kuruvilla on Piano.....a moody tribute to Whitney Houston's - Saving all my love for you.
For the gear heads - Vivin used a Komplete Kontrol S61 Mk2 Controller with an NI Piano sample while Sunita used an Aston Spirit Microphone ( she's an Akg endorsee, for the records) we added a touch of EMT140 plate reverb and LA2 compression from our UAD2 plug in collection - and thats it......!!

Little River band is one of the groups I admired since the 80s and here's a short Jam session I recorded using REASON 10 as my DAW of choice.
I directly plugged a G&L Jerry Cantrell Guitar by Leo Fender into the HiZ input on my new Apollo Black twin Interface and started recording.
Vikram Vivekanand played guitar on the 1st and last solo while I played the 2nd solo.
Vikram chose an ENGL amp simulator on the Unison input of the Apollo Twin while I preferred the mellower Chandler Amp. Both solos included an 1176 limiter from our UAD2 collection.
Vivin chipped in later with some Organ vamping using a Reason Preset while i slapped on a Reason Bass sample on an NNXT and played it using a Komplete Kontrol S49 from Native Instruments.

Happy Anniversary / LRB Cover Jam

Discovered this young duo called " On that Note" when they popped in for some advice on speakers. So we just plugged in their guitar and a mic and hit the record button...a lil editing and this is what popped out.
Do support n follow them on FB and catch them live all over the city.

For the tech lovers - we used an Apollo Twin Solo interface, Reason 10 DAW, Audix OM2 hand held dynamic mic and UAD2 plug ins . After they left Vivin our Mktg head added some Piano on the tiny Novation Launchkey25 and played some tambourine using a Reason10 NNXT sample triggered by the launchkey25 .The Woodworks plug in works great to tailor the acoustic guitar and the cooper time cube did wonders for the vocals even in default setting. A little channel and bus compression on the SSL emulated mixer on Reason10 and it was ready to roll.
We also use AVI (UK) Reference Monitors and Sonarworks Room calibration software.

We first noticed young singer Arsha Mech at a local talent contest we were judging. The authority and confidence her voice exuded was enough to get her a top placing at the contest and we were glad when she popped into the store to buy some gear.....obviously we had her record a song and she sportily agreed even though we only had an electric guitar and she uses only acoustic.

So here she sings a cover using an Audix OM7 series hand held mic plugged into an Apollo Twin Solo Interface, recorded into Reason DAW . After she left we played a bass guitar sample using the computer kwerty keyboard as input device. A touch of  LA2 compressor and Lexicon reverb was added via UAD2 plug -ins....thats it !!! enjoy.

When Guitarist Vikram Vivekanand plugged my Strat into my computer to test it out, I discreetly switched on ableton, gave him a loop to jam with and hit record.........heres the result.........Poor guy doesn't know Ive released it as a single and made millions....
....but as compensation pls do buy Grey Shack's album....if you like Vikrams soaring Guitar style.
For the techies out there....the entire jam has only one guitar multi tracked. NO bass guitar - thats my strat turned down one octave on Live8. No external FX - just live 8 plug ins......all done in 10 mins.......
