Reading of "How it Feels to be the Husband of a Suffragette"

"The March of the Women" was the anthem of the women's suffrage movement in England. It was composed by Ethel Smyth in 1910 and became famous during the first wave of the women's rights movement. The song is still widely performed today. The women's march is the soundtrack for a special message from Dr. Helen Pankhurst to American women voters. Dr. Pankhurst is a contemporary women's rights activist in the U.K. She is the granddaughter of suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst and the great granddaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst. 

A major motion picture from the U.K., "Suffragette," features Meryl Streep as Emmeline Pankhurst. Suffrage Wagon News Channel has more than 100 women's suffrage videos on its YouTube and Vimeo channels.
