Shoulders/Spine is a collaborative effort between Andre Smith & Josh Brown from Heavy Chest. They wrote this song back in 2018 but it took a while to record it the way they wanted. The recording took place in rural New Zealand with a homestyle recording setup during a band tour.
 
The song itself is about people having no spine or pride! People not accepting how they are truly feeling and letting their relationships suffer by not realising where their emotions truly come from.
