It was an honour to rock the Dubstation at Germany’s amazing Fusion Festival this year! What an awesome experience. Great artists, incredible crew/organization by Kulturkosmos, and a killer crowd made the experience unforgettable. We were smiling straight through, despite the rain and 10-degree weather! 

We performed on a Sunday afternoon set on the Dubstation so we started gently but got groovy pretty quickly - - the usual SuKhush recipe ☺ We’re totally live here, with the electronic remixing and flute improvisation happening on the fly. Recently we’ve been playing a lot of private parties and gigs around NYC  - - and this weekend we were asked for a fuLL dub // bass set. We decided to put a little Indian twist on it in honour of Durga Pooja, which is just finishing off now with her immersion in the sea. In fact, we’re releasing this set in Brooklyn just as Dussehra descends on India :: the holiday that celebrates the victory of good over evil. JAI !!

For us, after this particularly deadly winter in Brooklyn, Spring couldn’t be more welcome - - - - or more totally chaotic! Winter solstice weekend is always such a quiet and beautiful time in the northern hemisphere :: the trees are bare, the cold is settling in, celebrations kick in, and we anticipate months of hibernation ahead.  

For the 5th year now, Digitally Imported Psychill (http://www.di.fm/psychill) has filled this weekend with incredible beauty and energy from some of the best psychill DJs and producers from around the globe. We were so grateful to have been invited to take part in this amazing virtual party for the second year running! What a total blast this weekend was ☺ Thanks to everyone who took part – it was just killer.

KalaKhush (Vishwaatmaaa Vs SuKhush Dark Prog Promo 2015)

Our first Antaris was amazing - - killer vibes, awesome organizers and crew, absolutely wonderful crowd! Felt like a beautiful old school Goa party. Also :: INTENSE. The heat was deadly  - - so hot that when we plugged in our equipment on Saturday evening, the adapter to the sound rack we use for the live flute EXPLODED :-P Instead of our usual set up we routed the flute through Traktor, which isn’t awesome, but was a solution…. And then, 45 minutes into our set, the stage had to be shut down because of the threat of a coming electrica storm. Crazy stuff!

This is life :-) But as soon as we reached back to Brooklyn after our one month on the road, we recorded the Antaris set - - and here it is !! This was the original plan for that beautiful stage and the gorgeous dancers who came to hear us there. Thank you guys!! We hope you enjoy this and look forward to rocking with you again on another killer stage soon!!

Digitally Imported Psychill's Winter Solstice is truly one of our favourite traditions :: just as things are getting as dark & dim as they can go, the most brilliant psychill lights in the universe illuminate everything :-)

It has been our pleasure & privilege to participate in this online festival for the last few years... but this year, we appreciated the weekend more than ever -- because 2016 was so truly shite, and as we look toward 2017, we see only smellier and uglier shite ahead /// yet in our community, we have such amazing souls, and such incredible warmth. We are the lucky ones :-) 

So this set is our gratitude! To you, to our universe, and to our luck for having whatever is the weird chip in our brains ((or hearts)) that allows us to appreciate the simplest things and feelings, which so many others can not see, feel, or hear.

Venus Meditation (SuKhush Remix) - B. Ashra

The vision driving SuKhush has always been the integration of pure organic sound with electronics :: retaining and respecting ancient sound, but amplifying and enhancing it with what is now possible through technology. This Venus Meditation remix represents a huge step forward for us along this journey!
 
During summer 2018, we collaborated with B. Ashra (Bert Olke - Klangswirkstoff Records/GL Audio and Mastering) to produce a deeply considered remix of his original 62-minute Venus Meditation, released in 2016. The original soundscape is tuned to the cosmic octave, specifically to the planetary frequencies of Venus ( A | + 9,64 Cent | 221,23 Hz (110,61 Hz)| 103,7 bpm | colour: yellow-orange ). Further, with a nod to the dolphin imagery often used to depict Venus as the Roman goddess of love, the original composition also includes dolphin songs, recorded in the Atlantic Ocean near La Gomera (Canary Islands). We recorded the flute in one continuous session, in its pure organic form, adding only selected effects to facilitate the integration into the track. The Western concert flute remains on its original tuning. 
 
2018 is the year of Venus – a broad canvas for forgiveness, love, and completion. What more perfect moment could there be to add our voice to this already beautiful composition? We seized the opportunity over the course of these summer months, spending a series of utterly unforgettable summer days and nights with B. Ashra in the GL studio, located on the fairytale campus of BLO-Ateliers in Berlin.

Winds from the East

"Psychedelic Outreach in Philly" ~ ~ because that's just what we did last Friday from a radio studio on the outskirts of the city of brotherly LoVE. 

This SuKhush session is a live recording for a totally new, psychedelically naive audience. We wanted to give them a dose of our favourites ~ so, lots of friends' compositions in this set ~ but we couldn't overwhelm them with the intensity, so we pulled back and brought in a some lighter moments as well :-) 

It took us a minute to get settled so excuse the distortion on that beautiful first track! And overall we recommend lowering the source volume justttt a touch because of the high level in the studio.

Psychedelic Outreach in Philly

** Awakening the Kundalini **

The sleepy energy of winter is shifting into brighter vibes of spring here in Brooklyn :: what better time to rev up the kundalini with a little psychedelic sound experiment? We included some new beauties as well as some old favorites in this set, to gently bring up the kundalini energy with the right balance of novelty, familiarity & ~ of course ~ psychedelic frequencies. We hope you enjoy the mellow booM! 

As always – we recorded old school: 1 take, no post-production fixes, just pure live action. Vish on the decks, Rachel improvising on flute.

This is the legacy page for SuKhush (Altar Records) where we keep some of our favourite releases and sets from over the years. Everything from studio recordings to Fusion Festival (Germany), Ozora Festival (Hungary), MoDem Festival (Croatia), Eclipse Festival (Canada) … Goa gigs… NYC parties …… here are some of our favourites :-) 

SuKhush featured Rachel's live improvisation on the C Flute interwoven with Vishal's DJ/RMX sets. SuKhush spanned downtempo (psychill / bass / dub / psystep) to dancefloor (darkprog / chillgressive ) beats. We took a lot of pride in always keeping it fresh! No 2 sets were the same, even on tour.
