@eli-verveine is long regarded as a stellar DJ — she has many years under her belt playing at some of the most notable clubs around the globe. A DJ with a keen intuitive flow in her sets, in the early ’00s she honed her sound and skillful technique by opening and warming up the dancefloor on many club nights; later she became known for her afterhours sets at Zurich’s legendary Dachkantine. Although these days her schedule finds her headlining around the world, she remains a vital part of the Zurich scene — Zurich is where she hosts her weekly radio show on Radio Lora, and where she runs her label, Tardis Records (along with her Berlin-based partner, Oscar Schubaq). This week on the Bunker NY show with host Bryan Kasenic, Eli Verveine will showcase her versatility and stretch out on the decks, live from our NYC studio.

Corine's set is the first time we've paired the mix with a record sticker instead of an artwork: a detail of Haruomi Hosono and Tadanori Yokoo's soundtrack from the 1978 film Cochin Moon. Corine used this song as a place of departure for her mix, and as a visual artist herself, it's only fair we flip the script this time 'round and pair her mix with, well, a song. :)

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing to fit the patriarchal, neoliberalist mould we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. We discover that the stability we were instructed to obtain whether it be financial, political or ecological, is fleeting, if at all. The resulting anxiety is an instrument of neoliberalism that prevents many of us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that alienate us.

In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Barad teaches us that the world is a dynamic process of intra-activity and materialisation, an ongoing ebb and flow of agency. The Buddhist Law of Impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal.

Regardless of ones point of reference we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on.

Each month we invite an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can speculate on alternate modes of existence that reject hetero- patriarchal systems of oppression.

This month we have invited @ellellellellellellellelle to respond to this concept.

Derozan is one the most interesting selectors in the Netherlands, one with a very unique approach of sound design. Maybe you recognize the name Maekkot. He did a mix for Knekelhuis in the beginning of the IFM series. And he released 2 tracks on our first cassette compilation, one by himself, one as Sige Bythos (together with Parrish Smith). In this mix he centered the composition around the Rebab instrument. The essential core, where everything is build around and comes together. Enjoy the ride.

Raär was our guest together with Ryan Elliott in March 2018 and now delivers the next podcast for our series, which musically moves away from "dancefloor"-oriented electronic dance music. Stylistically, the young Frenchman delivers a one-hour selection of the finest ambient music and proves how broad the world of electronic music is.
