Unfortunately that was (is) very common in pop music.

Basically it says "you doubt me but I am telling you that I really love you and you have to believe me; at the same time I don't believe you so show me how you really love me."

Anyway, it was a lot of fun recording it.

New year, new project. Like I did with BrokeJazz in 2020. Let's start a new monthly project. I composed the first song yesterday, December 31, 2022. It looks like a good start.

Last Rainy Day Of December

January 3rd, 2023. Will the new year be good or bad or just like anyone before? That is a good question. In a rainy, melancholic day, this songs looks like the right one.

I had this song in mind for a while, but I never had the occasion to put record it. January 6th 2023 felt like the right day to do it. Who knows why.

Jan 15th. Fourth song of the day. A very productive, rainy Saturday in San Francisco. Improvised on Logic Pro X and left as it came out. Life is too short to edit, add stuff, whatever.

Not a tango, but a reflection on tango. January 15th — a very rainy day — goes this way.

Even today, Sunday Jan 16th, is raining.
In the afternoon, the sky was very dark. This tune came out almost automatically.

Moody Afternoon

January 15th. It rained all day long and is still raining. All that comes out of my fingers while beating the keys tends to have the same gloomy mood.

PS > I think I added 6 tunes between yesterday and today. I can pause the project for a couple of days.

Marching Through Foggy Hills

January 17th. Yesterday night, around 1 am, I had the urgency of playing this tune. I was very tired and I got the harmony totally wrong. Today it sounded so bad. I fixed the harmony in the editing, but I will play it again in the next few days to make a better take. I may also re-harmonize it. Life is short. We will see.

Taco Tuco

January 17th.
I wrote this tune some times ago, a day I had a strong headache, which usually means that in the next 12 hours it will rain.

Just noticed that the rain is coming back often, these days, and influences my mood.  Next project must be in the Summer :-)

After having headache all day long, finally I see the light behind the clouds. January 18th.

PS > Probably I already said this, but me having headache means that it is going to rain. Weather forecast has never beaten my head. Sadly, she is always right.

Looking Forwards To You

I composed this song during last year winter and I recorded a first take, "a la prima." I found it today in my archives. It mostly needed some touch to improve the sound of the piano. But it was ready. A French atmosphere for January 19th.

Tango Notturnino

A tune that I improvised and recorded right away a week ago. After, I forgot about it. Yesterday night I found the file. It was not bad. I fixed some little mistakes and let it rest. Today, Feb 5th, I listened to it again and thought it was ready to go. So, here it is.

Scritta a marzo, in pieno lockdown, questa canzone riassume i miei sentimenti per i tempi a venire. Non ero troppo ottimista e ad oggi, ottobre, non vedo ragioni per cambiare atteggiamento. Speriamo bene.

Tonight (December 16th) I was in a cool jazz mood.
For this song, I played the walking bass line, the chords and the solo in three different takes. It was too hard for me to play the tune all together.

Someone asked why that title. 'The Clarity of the Big Fly' is a nod to a couple of my closest friends. One of them is named Chiara, which means 'clear' in Italian, and the other's last name is Mosconi, which means 'big flies'. It's my way of showing how much our friendship means to me, telling the world, at the same time, how much clarity Chiara brought in Francesco's life.
