Settle Down made 2023 his own. And with an ever higher purpose, he strides into 2024 in his now trademark inimitable style with a proper double A 12” in the shape of ‘The Special’ and ‘Twos s On A Pack Of Ten’.
They mark the second foray on the artists newly minted label, SDWN. And they are also the first Settle Down release since his slew of debut releases last year, and signify the beginning of what’s about to be a sonic assault from a prolific and dedicated artist.
With these tracks already on dub for some time, and now finally to be released into the wild, both sides have seen heavy rotation from a who’s who of discerning DJs, featuring in a host of high profile sets, and look set to cause further damage in the near future.
2023 was quite the introduction to Settle Down. But in 2024 Settle Down is looking to raise the bar even higher, and SDWN002 is just the start of what’s to come.

The EP’s monolithic collaborative track “Lilin” features tour de force Culprate. Every layer of production detail employed is infused with overpowering emotion. Finding endless methods of transforming cacophonous displays of sound into head-churning melodies that thoroughly scramble the senses. Keeping pace with one another, these two talented producers leave the unattentive listener in a state of stupefied awe.

Qualia

When a power enhancing drug has hallucinogenic side effects on kickboxer, Jack refuses to take it, and is then dropped by his manager. Desperate for money, he takes his teammate Kevin’s offer to deliver some cocaine. It is a set-up to take the business away from drug lord, Henry. Jack ends up in prison with Axel who was caught in the same deal. Corrupt fight promoter, Parker, agrees to set up a fight between now blood rivals Kevin and Jack, and bets heavily on Jack. In order to ensure his success, he pumps Jack full of the experimental drug which brings out Jack’s ultimate fighting power while making Kevin appear as a fearsome robot to Jack. Crazed by the drug, Jack does win the fight, and is finally able to give up the ring and seek a peaceful life.

We've been following Leeds-based producer Samurai Breaks for a few years now through his releases on some of our favorite uptempo imprints like Ground Mass Music, The Dreamers Recordings, Worst Behavior Recs, and most recently, Belgium's illustrious Halogen Music. His high-octane blend of jungle, juke/footwork, drum and bass, hip hop beats, and classic rave music is built club-ready, and if you've ever seen a warehouse going nuts to jungle at 3 o'clock in the morning, it was probably to music that sounds a lot like Samurai Breaks. Whatever's going on in that head, we're here for it, and we couldn't be more excited to premiere the latest single "Tommy 2Fast" from his new release "Anti-Social Club" forthcoming via Halogen Music next week.
