Silk Royal is thrilled to present Silk Remixed 04, the fourth installment of the annual series, featuring various veteran talents and rising stars in progressive. Kicking off the compilation is Nigel Good's jubilant remix of "Sumr" by Dezza & Shoreliners. Fresh off his debut artist album, which reached #1 overall on Beatport, Nigel treats us to a sparkling, complextro-influenced progressive gem, rife with feel-good vibes. Vintage & Morelli, one of the standout artists from Silk's Arrival division, offers a fresh, peak-hour take on "Night Time" by Sound Quelle. A bouncy house rhythm sits below a stormy and evocative lead, punctuated by a haunting vocal sample. The main break is a goosebumps-inducing aural experience, as the vocal motif and piano poignantly coalesce. Aeron Aether's "Synthanelia" still finds a home in our radio and live sets; Jayeson Andel, a breakthrough artist on our imprint, offers a full-on trance stormer with his new rendering, which has received early radio support from Arty. The memorable string themes of the original soar above an adrenalin-fueled, stadium-rocking groove. French talent Matt Fax, another leader of Arrival, offers a new interpretation of one of Silk Royal's early releases, Pconvolve's "Cosmology". As the title implies, celestially-inspired synths transport the listener to the far reaches of the galaxy; a progressive breaks interlude and explosive drop in the latter half of the track are true release highlights. David Broaders closes out the first half of the release with an awe-inspiring interpretation of "Starman" by Gregory Esayan. A thunderous groove resolves into a beautiful piano and string-themed breakdown; these poignant melodies are some of the most enduring from the compilation this year.

New label recruit Illuminor, a rising duo from Australia, add a bit more punch to eleven.five's classic "Pinnacle". A highly innovative groove, as well as new variations on the main piano motif from the original, stand out in this fantastic new version. Trusty label veteran Sundriver offers a driving take on Denis Laurent feat. Kaisa Martina's "All I Need". A vintage lead chord progression, with numerous euphoric synth layers and arpeggios, paves the way for Kaisa's romantic vocal in the breakdown. The unforgettably lush, melodic, and cinematic music of Marsh has graced our label since 2012. The UK-based composer has managed to attract fans from both ends of the electronic music spectrum, from deep house to trance, ever since, in large part due to the influential support of Above & Beyond, Chicane, and various other global leaders. A half-decade of artistic growth has led the London native to a defining moment in his career: the release of "Life On The Shore," his debut artist album.

Straddling deep and (melodic) progressive house, Marsh's twelve breathtaking album cuts invoke an air of romance, if not eroticism, as gentle grooves, distant atmospheric effects, and soothing, yet indelible melodic themes envelop the listener. Ellie Shantz, Katherine Amy, and Marcelle Antunes, all newcomers to our imprint, treat us to a total of five standout vocal contributions to Marsh's dream-like soundscapes. Rendering the listener pensive and profoundly at peace, "Life On The Shore," in the final analysis, seems to conjure a utopian existence, in which life is both more relaxed and spiritually fulfilling.

Silk Textures closes out 2012 with a beautiful deep house track by breakthrough Russian artist Denis Laurent. Specifically, the romantic "My Feelings For You", perfectly suited for the after-hours, features talented newcomer Kaisa Martina on vocals and an equally emotive instrumental from Laurent. Delicate bell sounds, representative of the winter season, are introduced early, as well as a sexy bass progression. Soon thereafter, Kaisa delivers the vocal: her fragile, aching voice is an ideal match for the delicate melodic textures of the song. The emotional energy continues to crescendo and reaches a climax in the "drop", when Kaisa gorgeously repeats some of the key lyrical motifs of the track.

MeHiLove (a.k.a. Yuriy Mikhailov), the first of two veteran remixers, is a tremendously gifted and versatile artist from Ukraine. His name has appeared on recent radio shows by progressive and trance's most accomplished DJ's (Armin Van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold, to name a few). His remix here is perhaps best described as trance-influenced progressive house, as it blasts off with an energetic main bassline and anthemic piano theme. Kaisa's vocal sounds much more powerful in the context of this uplifting and "epic" soundscape. Meanwhile, a variety of other melodic motifs are added by meHiLove, all of which are fresh and inspired. In the main break, Kaisa's chorus combines with meHiLove's stunning melodic progression, to euphoric effect.

Finally, Technical Lovers, who have contributed greatly to Silk Textures over the years, return to the imprint with another classy house rendering. The track centers on a sexy groove and a hypnotic, repeating pad motif; meanwhile, Kaisa's vocal provocatively cuts through the mix, as it has been processed here with a bit of extra fullness and "bite". In the main break, her vocal is given the spotlight, while Latin percussive elements maintain the rhythm. The acoustic sound of the mix in general is quite refreshing.
